This historic Chicago hotel offers stunning city and lake views, on-site dining options, and free WiFi. Offering a mix of contemporary amenities and classic, historic character, each room at Congress Plaza Hotel features high ceilings, expansive bathrooms and a flat-screen cable TV. Coffee makers, working desks, and ironing facilities are provided in each room. Some rooms offer separate living areas and family-friendly bedding layouts. Rafael’s offers a menu of American classics, coupled with creative seasonal chef specialties for lunch and dinner. For breakfast, guests can start the day off with breakfast at Gazebo or grab a drink and watch a game on the flat-screen TVs at the Congress Lounge, which offers city views and comfortable leather couches and chairs. The bed was very comfortable. I want to get one like it. Also, complimentary water and having a refrigerator was great!
The location is perfect. It is central to all the attractions in Grant Park. It?s old, but that?s part of the charm.
Really stupid toilet upgrade, long time ago. Low profile toilet oversized can?t open bathroom door.

Cons -

Wish there was a microwave, need air conditioner, fix hot water for showers, up grade tv size it was wayyy too small, up grade look of hotel a little too dated for that cost of money a night. Hey Hotel employee to fix her attitude about helping customers.
Air conditioning did not work. Paint was old and hotel not maintained. Know it's a hotel but could have had better paint job and cleanliness
One of the security guards hassled us about taking the stairs. He said that it is hotel policy that the stairs are off limits. The manager told us the stairs are not off limits. All other security guards and staff are super helpful and nice.

Peeling wall paper, visible holes in the wall, room door was in the STAIRWAY, and the door to the adjoining room was single paneled with two inches of clearance below it. Felt like we were sharing a room. They also don't actually have parking.
