    Pros +

    • The architecture
    • Loved the common rooms and the food. Room was very quiet.
    • Architecturally stunning. Wonderful staff and location.

    Cons -

    • The elevator was out of the way through the bar that always smelled like vomit, broken air conditioning, only one robe for two guests, hidden fees, staff that didn?t seem to know much about the hotel?s goings on, generally not a nice place to be
    • electronic games in the gameroom weren?t working correctly. i wish we knew a private event was taking place in the gameroom ahead of time. also wish a ticket was provided for the free drinks so the customer doesn't have to awkwardly ask for it with key
    • Shower water pressure! Resort Fee is a rip off in disguise that should be banned. Not the hotel's fault but a problem nonetheless ?

The staff is always so helpful and friendly!

We were not able to connect to the tv. It would be helpful if it was just a standard smart tv.

The style, the food and the game room, felt like a bygone era

    It was a perfect trip

    Location

Dealing with trying to get all the charges edxplained. Multiple charges were not explained, many calls, emails we still don't have the information we requested.

The restaurants and fun bars located on the property are top notch. You also cannot beat the location.

Parking was a little on the high side compared to other downtown hotels.

    8MattPosted on: 2-16-2023

The views from the rooftop bar, and preservation of history throughout the property.

$25 Founders fee added onto bill. Room has very small windows and felt a little dark.

    Location and history

    Small room size. No view

    10Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 3-2-2022

The historic ambiance is amazing and the staff are helpful and also happy to share the history of this significant Chicago landmark!

    9Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 11-29-2021

The staff were so attentive and we loved hanging out in the drawing room and game room. The food was also excellent!!

Bathroom counter space is minimal. Also, 3rd floor noise is a problem if someone is using the basketball court.

It was in a good location across from Millennium Park. It was near the Riverwalk, shopping, and restaurants. Transportation was easy from this area.

    10JillPosted on: 9-18-2018

Everyone was very friendly and paid attention to details. No matter how big or small. That's what sets you apart from other hotels. I'll always remember that and recommended the Chicago athletic. We had a great time and a lovely view.

Amazing location -- beautiful views, near restaurants, things to do, etc. In the heart of Chicago -- feel the pulse! High energy of hotel.

Room: Loved my room EXCEPT the curtains made it impossible to close them so the sun didn't come in at 5 a.m. Coffee store downstairs is VERY slow and poorly staffed. My room was on same floor as a conference...weird to walk out to registration

    7MargaretPosted on: 8-12-2016

Free internet and the staff was great. Valet parking attendants were kind and helpful.

The bed was very uncomfortable. There was no coffemaker in the room. The view our of our window was of another building that looked decrepit. I expected a king size bed and got a queen. That may have been my own misunderstanding, I am not sure.

    9Verified Hotel GuestPosted on: 3-7-2016

My room was much too warm, and the thermostat would not regulate the temperature. I complained about this to the front desk twice!!! before they moved me to a room that was not insufferably hot. So two of my three days there were uncomfortable.

    10MaryPosted on: 3-1-2016

    Great service and great character

The bed was too firm for my taste and would like more room service options considering there are 4 restaurants on-site.

    9BarryPosted on: 12-11-2015

The location was the best to get around the loop, shopping, park, ice rink, theater district. All within walking distance. The main areas had a lot of old world charm making you want to remain in those areas.

Our room was much smaller than the photos making it difficult for 2 people to navigate in the room. The bed was very comfortable.

They canceled my reservation at 3:00pm the day of my arrival because they had overbooked. Not cool!
