Located on the black sands of Kauai, the oldest of the Hawaiian Islands, these oceanfront cottages in Waimea have been restored with plantation-period furniture and feature patios overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The bright and colorful cottages at Waimea Plantation Cottages are decorated with floral patterns and tropical artwork. The kitchen is complete with an oven, full-size refrigerator, and a microwave. A DVD player is provided in each cottage. An oceanfront pool and on-site barbecue facilities are part of this Waimea property. Waimea River Park and the Waimea Theater are a 10-minute walk from the Waimea Plantation Cottages. Port Allen Airport is just 7 miles away.

- Feels just like old Hawaii. If you want a quiet vacation and wish to stay in a place with character, this is it. It is the complete opposite of a place like the Grand Hyatt, but in a good way.
- This place is a must stay! The cottages are rustic but clean and beautiful. The view is unbeatable whether its overlooking the ocean or the beautiful gardens they have on the grounds.
- Location. Location! Right near the private beach. Lovely grounds with flowering trees, birds. Awesome sunsets. Saw whales. AWAY from all the crowded resorts, crowded beaches. Perfect. Also, it is on the side of the island that gets way less rain.
Cons -
- They take good care of the cottages, but the bathrooms are beginning to age out and small things like paint, etc need to be done to keep the units well maintained.
- Yes--cottage was OLD, with old decor, old furniture, old sinks, old rooms, old flooring. Not impressive. However, I still give a top positive review, because the other things (location) outweighed everything else.
