Located facing the Pacific Ocean on Kailua Bay, the Royal Kona Resort features a private beach area, a saltwater lagoon, an outdoor swimming pool, and an on-site restaurant. A TV, a refrigerator and a coffee machine are included in all the rooms. The rooms are decorated in soft colors with rich wood accents. All rooms provide comfortable lanais with select rooms offering mountain or ocean views, and select units offering unique wrap-around sliding glass doors. Featuring Asian fusion cuisine made with fresh local ingredients, Don the Beachcomber Restaurant is located on-site. In migrating season, guests can view humpback whales from the restaurant’s waterside tables. Royal Kona Resort offers tennis courts and an on-site spa and wellness center with massage services. Guests can also stop by the fitness center for a workout and a tour desk and a 24-hour front desk is offered. Kona Commons Shopping Center is 5 minutes’ drive from Royal Kona Resort. Kona Country Club is 5 mi away. Kohanaiki Golf & Ocean Club is 12 minutes’ drive north of the resort. Kona International Airport at Keahole is 9.9 mi away.

Lagoon Tower Improvement Project - Royal Kona Resort is consisted of of three individual towers in which guestrooms are located - Alii Tower, Bay Tower and Lagoon Tower. Exterior restoration work is taking place at the Lagoon Tower, located on the southern end of the resort property. No exterior restoration work is taking place at the Alii Tower or the Bay Tower. Guests booking the Royal Kona Resort will be accommodated exclusively in the Alii Tower or the Bay Tower, unless they have specifically chosen to book rooms located in the Lagoon Tower, which are being offered at a discounted rate and identified as "Lagoon Tower Renovation Rates". Resort guests may see scaffolding, repair work and painting occurring to the Lagoon Tower. While every effort will be made to minimize noise, resort guests may hear some work being done. Project work on the Lagoon Tower is restricted between 9am and 4pm. Our Lagoon Tower Improvement Project will continue through December 31, 2025 (subject to change)

- Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and our room was in the construction area but even the construction workers were friendly and assisted in directions
- Location and pool
- The staff. Hands down. They were all amazing.
Cons -
- Pool closes at sunset. No luggage carts had to carry luggage up and down stairs to get yo elevator. No microwave in room. Charged a resort fee $25 and parking $30 for almost no pool time and lagoon beach closed. Hotel under renovation
- Beds were a little small.
- Air conditioning was a bit noisy, balcony door was hard to open and lock, and large stain on the carpet in the hallway.
