Best Western Savannah Historic District

Location is excellent.

Things that could have easily been addressed with maintenance. Doorknob missing to bathroom. Shower curtain ripped. Stain in bedspread. Stains in ceiling.

We stayed at this hotel for one night. The location is pretty good and it’s walking distance to many bars and restaurants. The staff were very helpful. We had our train late in a day and they gave us the late check out till our train arrival, which made situation for us easier.

Room was spacious and clean. Conveniently located to River Street. Check in was quick and easy... check out the same.

Only shutters to cover the windows, so not all light was blocked at night. I like a very dark room at night. A few low traffic sounds could be heard, but nothing that would keep you awake.

Great location, was able to walk all over downtown. Staff was friendly also.

It was very loud, you could hear everything going on outside.

The location of the hotel was great. The first interaction with staff was also ok. Free parking that may last until 3PM next day would be a great option to some travelers.

Keyword: Musty room smell, Uncomfortable bed, leaking ceiling (health hazard), slow response, and double charge. I will never return to city of Savannah due to this bad experience.1. Musty room smellI should have cancelled the hotel when I first got into the room and left, but I didn't. That's my mistake. The room had a musty smell upon arrival, and knowing Savannah is generally humid, I tried to tolerate it. Even the bathroom surfaces wet and slightly slippery. It was raining outside, so I assumed it's normal.2. Leaking ceilingAt 2:20 AM, I was awakened by dripping noises. Water was leaking from the ceiling in the corner, initially a single drop but escalating to four or five drops simultaneously. I contacted the front desk to report the issue. The clerk promised to send someone, and I waited for 45 minutes before speaking with her in person at 3:40 AM. Eventually, she found another room and allowed me to move my belongings. While the new room still had a musty odor, it was a significant improvement. However, the bed was still uncomfortable, falling short of the other hotel standard.3. Staff respondAs I mentioned above, it took me 45 minutes to reach the front desk. I chose to report the issue sooner rather than wait until checkout, as I have a mold allergy and am highly sensitive to it. I'm still unsure why the front desk told me that she will send someone to investigate it if she will not take any action.A couple of hours later, I received an email regarding the hotel invoice. The amount did not match what I had booked on Booking.com (charged twice). Before checking out, I inquired with front desk again about the extra charge. I understand that hotels often charge a temporary deposit for potential incidents, and the clerk assured me the extra charge would be removed upon checkout.4. Double chargingThis billing error is the reason for my negative review.

The location is key with this hotel. You’re walking distance from the river walk and many restaurants, bars and shops. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.

The women’s bathroom at the pool smelled absolutely horrible. It could have been a sewage issue or something.

Really beautiful hotel! Convenient for walking around the historical district! Breakfast is really tasty! And has parking option for 35 USD / night
