The DeSoto

Great location and beautiful facilities.

The hotel was beautiful and in a great location! The staff was also very attentive and accommodating!

The DeSoto is a beautiful facility that is located in the historic area. Unfortunately, it was a little farther from the waterfront than I'd like. I also liked that the hotel is dog friendly and I was able to bring my polite chocolate lab mix, Charlie, into Proof and Provision. The old fashioned they made me was delicious, as were the chili cheese fries! The room was clean, spacious, with plenty of room for luggage. The bathroom and the toiletries were luxurious. Towels fluffy and white. Bed comfy. Staff polite.

The room was great, but I felt that they put me and my dog in a room very near to one that was being renovated. The hammering and drilling made it impossible for me to enjoy the room until after 6pm. The cost for having Charlie with me ($125) was a little excessive, what with $50 parking plus the $325 cost of the room, topping out at over $500 with taxes and local fees. To me, that is quite a bit for one night, especially with no coffee maker in the room or available in the lobby without paying even more.

The location was perfect for our plans. The hotel itself was very nice and clean.

My booking said breakfast was included, but it turned out to be a $15 credit per person, and that barely covered one item, let alone coffee. I was quite disappointed that coffee wasn't included. I won't choose or recommend this hotel for that reason.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was good and our room was quiet.

When we checked in, only one of three elevators worked. They offered the use of the service elevator, but this is quite slow especially when you are on a higher floor. When we checked out, no elevators were working, including the service elevator. Also, the balcony doors were sealed shut, and the windows did not open which was one of the main reasons we stayed there and paid for an upgraded room.

The location was excellent. Walkable to all the tourist spots in the historic downtown area.

Valet only option, lighting in the hallways could be improved “cold” vs warm feel, TVs could be updated in rooms.

When i booked the hotel, I dont remember booking a wheel chair accessible room, It had no bathroom counter, which I had to have, i got into the room it was connected to another room and I could hear their Tv loudly. We also requested a fridge, because it wasn't one in the rooms. We never received it. The front counter lady did offer us another room which was only 2 double beds. Which was horrible. She said we could change rooms only if one was available for the next day. We just kept it. Our anniversary weekend and we slept in separate beds. Oh an if you thought that parking was free at the hotel it isn't its 45.00 a night. And I was charged 3 times had to revise my checkout receipt.
