Location, breakfast and wine in evening

It was charming, had a good location and the wine and cheese happy hour was an added bonus, very unique. The bathroom was updated and very nice. It was convenient to use the valet service for our car.

The biggest problem for us was the bed, it was very uncomfortable. We are not fans of feather pillows either.

Clean, comfortable, and spacious room. The fireplace is a nice touch, the minibar and breakfast were included, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The internet worked much better than at other hotels where we have stayed.

Period decor, space and comfort, excellent breakfast, extra-helpful staff, and great location. Fire in parlour, comfortable sofas to relax in and gaze at the flames - very relaxing.

Not a great dislike, but would have liked the convenience of a hot-water kettle (as opposed to a coffee-maker) in the room to make tea with, rather than needing to go down to the parlour to make it. Definitely NOT a deal-breaker, rather a wish.

Very noisy inside the hotel: if people with the room above your head stands up during the nignt you will hear it for sure, and for the hallway as well.Mattress very poor :(

Wonderful staff! They were truly friendly and accommodating and made our trip so much more pleasant. The room was lovely and spacious and the beds were very comfortable. I loved the many detailed and thoughtful touches in the decor.

The bathtub looked dirty but may have just needed to be refinished.

The beds are comfortable and the sheets are clean and crispy. I loved the fireplaces. We stayed in two different suites. The Abbey suite was large and had 2 bathrooms and had two different rooms.

The Abbey suite was right next to the check-in desk, you can hear everything below and around you. Although we parked right in front of the hotel, which the desk is staffed 24 hrs, our car was still broken into. We had nothing in the car but they did mess everything up and took a car charger.

Very old building which I like. Original elevator with iron retractable door. So cool. Fireplace in room and lovely dining area. I thought this place was a value and quite charming/unique.

This is such a wonderful hotel. Great staff, wonderful rooms to work, chat, eat and relax. I love the breakfast and afternoon snack and you get to chill in the downstairs rooms (cozy artsy vibes). The breakfast includes hard boiled eggs, equator coffee, numi teas, oatmeal, pastries, granola, yogurt, fruit, etc. It is such a special place. Afternoon snack includes wine, cheese, and fruit. The rooms are eclectic, spacious and fun. You get a coffee maker with starbucks coffee and a fridge with waters and sparkling waters. It is a 10 minute walk to union square. Lots of restaurants nearby. Close to chinatown and union square.

Lovely decor and we really enjoyed the fireplaces, breakfast and end of day snacks and drinks. The old elevator is also fun!

Very comfortable, the staff was lovely, happy hour and breakfast were great, and the fireplaces everywhere were so cozy! We will definitely return!

The bed was difficult to get in because of its height and my bad knees.

They could have better coffee!

The location is excellent and close to several important transit lines (#1 Muni bus, Powell and California Cable Car lines). The room was very spacious. The hotel features a nice library and sitting room. The room and the hotel common areas are nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel held my luggage before and after my stay. The staff were mostly professional and helpful.

The furnace still threw off heat even when it was in the off position. The dial was behind a light fixture and it took me a while to find it. There was a constant low hum from a compressor on top of a nearby building. The breakfast was not very good with a lot of low-quality carbs and not a lot of protein. I was disappointed that I did not get maid service other than the room having been made up before check in.

Very friendly staff. Cozy rooms with nice fireplaces. Great wine+snacks everyday.

Windows are not very tight, so it could get a bit cold in the rooms during the night.
