Pros +
- I loved the historic room and all the work being done to restore.
- Why would you stop the included breakfast at 9am on a Saturday morning?
- Perfect, beautiful, location. Fun to walk around property. Feels like a special place with wonderful history. Staff very friendly. I enjoyed getting a snack and drink in the evening with my daughter at the snack bar. The fire pits are great to sit at too. Spent hours at the perfectly heated pool. Exceeded our expectations!!
Cons -
- Room was “rustic”. Still fun and unique though. Some small, dirty spots on walls. Had to have staff bring hand soap late at night. I think board games for families would be fun.
- Starting with a $200/night fee, the bathroom was inadequate and I'm guessing it's the same bathroom that was built when Asilomar opened. I did not realize you have no elevators and I should have asked before making a reservation. On a broken ankle that is healing slowly, given my age (78), I had to negotiate two floors of stars multiple times each day. And I had to walk all over the facilities, once at night, with virtually no lighting to help me find my building. I suggest you replace your Directory signs with ones that specify clearly where a person is when reading any of the signs. E.G. "You are Here".... As a result of the labyrinth of paths and roads, I had to walk 30 minutes in the rain Saturday evening, just to find the Willow building from where the wedding I attended was located. It was tedious, difficult, and unnecessary if the existing signage was replaced with more helpful signs. The food at the wedding was very good, the bed was wonderful, but like I said, for $200 a night, Asilomar could do better, much better.
