Pros +
- The breakfast was great and I really enjoyed being on the roof top terrace.
- The king room was very comfortable and very clean. All of the staff were unfailingly helpful. The Butterfly restaurant is a lovely spot for a drink.
- Friendly staff, a cool rooftop pool and dining area, complimentary water bottles at the front desk, quick elevators, comfortable beds, and a great shower.
Cons -
- It was frustrating to only have valet parking. The only way for us to have access to our car (to fetch or store things) was to have the staff go into the garage and bring the car to the check in area. Not sure the hotel is worth the cost when traveling personally, but probably great if traveling for business. Be aware there is a "resort fee" added on to the cost of the room with the usual taxes and fees. This seems like just a way to charge a little extra.
- Valet only, but I was aware prior to staying
- Disappointing Lack of TransparencyI wanted to like The Shay. It's stylish and well-located but there were a couple of major drawbacks that left a bad impression. First, the mandatory valet parking came as a complete surprise. There are no self-parking options, and this information wasn’t communicated prior to arrival. Showing up tired with luggage and being told you have no choice but to valet isn’t a great welcome.Second, a daily charge is automatically added to your room for amenities such as Peloton rentals and other extras. These might be useful for some, but if you’re a family staying for just a couple of nights, they’re pointless and again, this fee isn’t clearly explained up front.People are already frustrated with the hidden fees creeping into Airbnb stays, and if hotels go down the same path, they’ll face the same backlash. The Shay should be upfront with guests: clearly state all mandatory charges and parking policies before booking, and make those extra fees actually useful to all types of travelers, not just gym-goers or long-term guests.

Breakfast was good. It's a nice restaurant by the pool. The whole team was nice and trying to be helpful.
