SureStay Hotel by Best Western Castro Valley

Check in was super simple and when we slept through check out they were totally accommodating and understanding while we got ready and got our stuff out.

This was the filthest Hotel I've ever rented and I've stayed in hotels in not so nice areas

Full of Dust and couldn't sleep properly had 2 buy cleaning products to be able 2 sleep. Came back 1 night 2 find door open.

The manager

No cable guide on tv, very limited breakfast items

Location was good for our visit. Room was basic but the bed was comfortable. Price was reasonable.

Included breakfast was just a grab and go which was fine for our purposes.

Mostly things were in place.. they had small water bottles for the guests.. and hot water available...

but I don't think the pillow covers looked quite clean.. I was there only for a night... also the shower was clogged.

The staff

Rooms need to be cleaned way better and proper fitted sheets should be in bed not 2 to top sheets.

Cleanliness of the rooms. Comparable or better than 250+ hotels. Good amenities: good wifi, iron and board, microwave, fridge, coffee, free parking, breakfast (snacks) bar. Breakfast has toasts, pastries, muffins, yogurt, cereal, milk, apple juice, oj,etc

Big room high ceiling quiet

The door with sticky I had to put my shoulder into it to open it. They cleaned the room every day without me asking

Clean quiet and sanitary

I stayed a week, I had absolutley no issues st all.

Everything advertised. We were repeat customers of EconLodge next door so we were familiar with the construction. Everything has been improved.

There were a few minor housekeeping issues. Hair in the tub, A bottle of water in the freezer, spray on glass framed decor.

Cleanliness. Convenience. Staff.

easy to get to

Most of the lights did not work. A continental breakfast was advertised, but there wasn't one. The telephone didn't work.

Location

The price per night was extremely high based on previous experiences in the same area. Also pricey based on quality, room size, age of hotel, breakfast we were expecting per the website vs breakfast available, etc.

It is at the less traffic end of Castro Valley. So quiet in that respect and still 5 min into town.

We had young children next door and the walls are a bit thin so a bit noisy at 10pm.

Fairly quiet and cozy. Staff were generally polite and accommodating.

Room could have been cleaner... glitter and bottle caps left in room.

Not a 3 star hotel, really a 1 star... poor HVAC, very basic motel and very old.

If you need to stay in Castro Valley and won't be hanging out in your room much, this is fine. It's definitely not fancy, not even modern, but it's close to the highway. Yep, that's the best thing about it.

It's run down, lots of people hanging around on balconies. There's a lot of noise from the other rooms (I got woken up by my neighbor's alarm clock). But, the bed wasn't awful, and the staff are nice.
