The hot tub, pool and sauna
I didn¿t like anything about this hotel. It¿s dirty and gross. A motel 6 with valet at its best.

Top Tips
- Reserve Alyeska Resort suites at least 6 months in advance for peak summer dates in June to August, as rates can double compared to shoulder seasons and room availability is limited. Set a calendar reminder, especially if you require accessible rooms or are booking for a group.
- Check the current status of Glacier Creek Road with your lodge before arrival, as spring thaw can cause closures or delays that impact property access. If access is critical for early check-in or late check-out, arrange a backup transit option in advance.
- Grocery prices in Girdwood average 10-15% higher than Anchorage due to the remote setting. Use hotel kitchenettes to offset these costs, and consider bringing specialty dietary items from Anchorage if needed.
- Expect variable cell coverage and Wi-Fi speeds in the area. Download offline maps before arrival, and ask your hotel about internet reliability for remote meetings or streaming, as most major hotels offer upgraded Wi-Fi but signal can fluctuate.
- Reconfirm your tour booking details and pickup locations with operators 24-48 hours in advance. Some local tours adjust schedules based on daylight and weather, so request real-time updates, especially for glacier or wildlife excursions.
- Pack windproof and waterproof layers year-round because Girdwood’s mountain weather can swing 10-20°F (5-11°C) within just a few hours. Many hotels provide guest dryers and mud rooms—ask at check-in about usage after outdoor activities.
- Select accommodations with kitchenettes or kitchens to help manage food budgets, as groceries in Girdwood generally cost more. Some hotels offer kitchen starter kits and cookware upon request—confirm item availability before arrival.
- Check weather-related cancellation or rebooking policies for glacier and wildlife tours. Most established operators offer refunds if conditions are unsafe; ask for policy details in writing before prepaying.
