    Pros +

    • Enjoyed staying in this cabin/hotel. This place is well maintained. Clean rooms with a TV, microwave and fridge. Bathroom was shared with other guests, also clean, included tub/shower combo. Owner was friendly and allowed us to use his grill. Highly recom
    • Lodging choices are limited near Wrangell-St. Elias, and this was satisfactory stopover. Hotel emailed access code to room, so check-in was covered without needing to find someone in the office. Flower baskets in full bloom were pretty.
    • The host was friendly and helpful, the bed in the room was comfortable and clean.

    Cons -

    • Room was tight with a king bed, but bath seved as additional room for luggage. Bath had flimsy shower unit, already broken/repaired and soap dispenser but no soap. Definitely felt like this was off-the-grid neighborhood, with little around it.
    • no toilet and shower in the room.
    • Weather wasn't great, but the hotel wasn't responsible for that

Interesting & eclectic. Trailers, cabins, even a railroad car for rooms. Bed was good. Easy check in.

Limited seating area for eating dinner in our room - other then bed and corner

I loved everything about this property. It was like visiting a museum and sightseeing adventure rolled into our hotel stay! Food, alcoholic beverages were excellent along with customer service!

Great view of the Northern Lights! Breakfast at Nummy’s just a short walk from Nicolai’s.

    Everything was ok.

    7JamesPosted on: 8-14-2025

Location and comfortable beds and a kitchen . Decent wifi

The only little issue was the shower timed out . But once you know that it's all fine.

Staff was not accommodating, felt like we was invading them. Overpriced for what was offered. Promised breakfast, none was available. Felt uncomfortable and unsafe. Did not stay. Beware, non-refundable. Baths were community, not semi-private.

It was unique and thematic. Property was very neat! Room and bathroom were immaculate!

The location was ideal if visiting Wrangell St. Elias National Park. Thats about all the positives I can say.

Not a very populated town; and the choices of places to stay were minimal. There were no check in instructions and there was no one of staff or even an office when we arrived at 4pm. Per chance, There was someone at the bar and told us there was a hanging board with paperwork for guests- out in the open around the corner. So anyone could see our doorkey code and your information. The room was old and reminded me of a ghost town store. But it was clean, had air, a bed, and a shower. We later went to the bar after asking the local gas station where to eat dinner. We met the owner and asked some questions to find out there was no food served there- so our bed and breakfast was just a bed. To pay $220 a night for this was really outrageous. But, we were tourists in an unknown area. My expectation were not high, but got lower.

Good location and good working wifi, especially since I didn’t have phone service there. Hot water in the shower and good lighting by the bathroom mirror.

Heater did not work so it was cold in the room the whole time. No breakfast was served.

Local establishment. Not a chain motel.Great bar!

Too much "junk" around the property

    6BonPosted on: 7-4-2025

Location and ambiance. You could take a small walk and go see the river. They had comfy beds.

It was a little over run with brush so more buggy. The whole area just needed cleaned up old hook ups for stuff still in the ground.

    7MichalPosted on: 6-23-2025

Very friendly owner, clean room, and comfy beds.

Bathroom was in the middle of construction with no hot water. Water filters (iron removal), new showers, etc. would improve it.

Zero things....this was a case of "the online was not what we drove into"

Uncle Nic got my $374 in early June per the payment plan. Had the outdoor pictures of the facility MATCHED what we saw when we drove in...reservations would have NEVER been made here. We have stayed in some pretty shady looking places but this was no comparison. The photos and the description seemed welcoming...if construction is happening with a business hotel/motel....then it should be stated. It's hard to believe the pictures of the rooms are presented correctly if the outside is not. I did not contact the business because a confrontation over the standards they represented online vs how upset I was with the reality would have not been pretty. Enjoy the $374....I hope this review can spare someone else the loss. And NO, the establishment did not bother trying to contact me either tv...I have more pictures of how bad the area looked where rooms and parking are but it only allows 4

Room had a fridge, microwave and the two beds that we booked. The bar was nice and there were some real fun people there. Good prices for beer during happy hour.

The shared ladies washroom unusable first due to diesel and exhaust fumes from the heater (health hazard?), then in addition to that also flooded from a water leak. Door lock was wonky, showers in so-so condition that we decided not to shower, even though we really would have liked to.

Good room. OK bed. Pleasant and helpful staff. Nice host and saloon.

    Breakfast was not available

Not able to get breakfast, were not advised. Had nothing with us to eat. Only 1 eating option. Princess lodge.

The sheets weren’t even changed or the trash taken out. I slept on used sheets balled up on the bed with a musty smell but I was too tired to do anything else. The bathroom was horrible and didn’t even have lights or hot water. For $100, this was like throwing money away. I’m not even picky either, but this was disgusting.

Everything but clean sheets would have helped.
