Top Tips
- Book at least 3-6 weeks ahead for weekends near Grand Junction Regional Airport, as rates can rise up to 20% for summer events like the Palisade Peach Festival or July 4th. For major events, consider booking 2-3 months in advance to secure your preferred hotel and room type.
- Grand Junction Regional Airport (GJT) shuttle service varies, with most hotels offering service between 06:00 and 22:00. If your flight arrives after 22:00 or before 06:00, call your hotel’s front desk at least 48 hours before arrival to confirm shuttle schedule.
- A rental car is strongly recommended for Grand Junction, as public bus service to attractions is limited to daytime hours and may not run on weekends. Reserve in advance at the airport for the best rates and availability, especially if arriving after 18:00 when some rental counters close.
- Check recent guest reviews on sites like TripAdvisor for room-specific details on noise, air conditioning, heating, and Wi-Fi speeds. Some airport hotels face the runway; request a room away from airport traffic for quieter rest, and ask if the AC units have digital thermostats for easier adjustment.
- Free guest parking is standard, but long-term or oversized-vehicle parking may incur extra fees or have space limits. If traveling with pets, clarify the nightly fee (often $15-$50 per night) and ask if resort or facility charges are already included in your rate.
- If sensitive to noise, request an upper-floor room facing away from the airport, runway, or US Route 50. Some hotels offer double-paned windows or white-noise machines upon request; confirm these during booking for a more restful stay.
- Grand Junction’s hotels frequently welcome cyclists and hikers. Ask about secure indoor bike storage, cleaning stations, shuttle service to Colorado National Monument, or discounts with nearby bike shops. Several chain hotels offer dedicated bike amenities or partnership discounts.
- Cannabis smoking and vaping are prohibited in all hotel rooms by Colorado law, with cleaning charges often starting at $250 for violations. If outdoor smoking is allowed, look for designated areas and always ask the property for their specific policy when you book.
- At 4,600 feet (1,400 m) elevation, UV exposure is stronger and dehydration comes quickly. Water dispensers are available in many hotel lobbies. Carry a refillable water bottle and use SPF 30+ sunblock; families with kids or older adults should take extra caution with sun and activity.
- Front desk teams often recommend local restaurants, such as Bin 707 or Devil’s Kitchen, grocery stores, and real-time trail updates. Ask for maps to the Riverfront Trail or information about farmers markets within 3 miles (5 km).
- Several airport hotels present add-on packages for Palisade wine tours, river rafting, or e-bike rentals, saving up to 10% compared to booking these experiences separately. Ask if your rate includes shuttle transport or discounted local tours.
- For stays over 3 nights or with family, request in-room amenities like a fridge, microwave, or crib at booking, as these vary widely between properties. Most airport hotels offer coin or card laundry facilities; check hours and, if traveling with kids, verify pool and hot tub opening times.
- Standard US tipping is $1-$2 per bag for bell staff, $2-$5 daily for housekeeping, and 15-20% for table service at breakfast if gratuity isn’t included. Leave tips daily for staff rotation.
- Most chain hotels near GJT offer step-free access, accessible rooms, and visual alarms. If you need specific features, such as a roll-in shower or lower beds, confirm availability in advance, as ADA rooms can be limited during festival weekends—book early.
