The staff was incredible. So helpful. Extending our stay by a night was easy and a great price. We never used the pool so no comment on that, but the room was fantastic. Comfortable bed, big shower, and plenty of space. Highly recommend.

Top Tips
- Book your hotel early, especially during Chiang Rai’s peak cool season from November to February, to secure wider availability and more competitive rates.
- Confirm if your hotel offers airport transfers (free or paid) from Chiang Rai International Airport (CEI) before arrival to avoid negotiation delays with taxis. Shuttle schedules can vary, especially for late-night arrivals, so check shuttle hours and arrange in advance if your flight lands after 20:00.
- Choose your hotel location carefully, as properties near CEI are typically a 15-25 minute drive from downtown Chiang Rai, which may impact your proximity to attractions like the Night Bazaar.
- Review recent guest feedback on platforms such as TripAdvisor or Booking.com to verify property cleanliness and service levels, including staff responsiveness and English proficiency.
- Keep your original passport accessible for hotel check-in, as Thai law requires hotels to record passport details for all foreign guests to expedite the process.
- Download and use the Grab app for local transportation within Chiang Rai, as it offers transparent pricing for rides from your hotel to city attractions or restaurants and supports major cashless payment methods.
- Be aware that most Thai hotels add a 7% Value Added Tax (VAT) and a 10% service charge, totaling 10-17% above the quoted room price. Some rates include these fees, so confirm with your hotel’s payment policy at booking to avoid surprise charges.
- Carry small denominations of Thai Baht (THB) for tips and local purchases. It is customary to tip 20-50 THB (about $0.60-$1.50 USD, approx., depending on rates) to porters or housekeeping, but tipping is not required. Change for larger bills is not always available at smaller shops or for minor services.
- Dress modestly by covering shoulders and knees when in communal hotel spaces or visiting temples like Wat Rong Khun. Some local temples have staff checking attire at entrances, so carrying a lightweight scarf or wrap adds flexibility.
- Verify all included amenities during booking, such as Wi-Fi, breakfast, airport transfers, or facilities like pools and business centers. Not all are complimentary at Chiang Rai airport-area hotels, and accessibility features (step-free access or accessible rooms) should be confirmed if required.
- Learn basic Thai phrases such as "sawatdee" (hello) and "khop khun" (thank you); while many hotel staff speak English, using local greetings enhances your interactions.
- Request a room away from main streets or on higher floors if you are sensitive to noise, as some airport-area hotels may experience aircraft or road sounds. Some hotels offer soundproofed rooms—confirm availability when booking if needed.
- Stay hydrated by drinking bottled water, usually provided complimentary in rooms; Chiang Rai’s climate is hot and humid from March to May. You can request extra bottles from hotel staff if needed, as most properties supply them at no charge, and remember to use sunscreen when outdoors.
- Inquire about amenities that fit your travel style, such as connecting rooms, family suites, kids’ pools, or quiet workspaces with reliable Wi-Fi for business guests. For example, some airport hotels offer a business center or a children’s play area; mention your needs at check-in for personalized recommendations.
- Consult hotel staff for local recommendations, as they can suggest reliable eateries, tour operators, or transport to markets and major attractions. Ask about popular street food choices at the Night Bazaar, located 8-10 km (5-6 mi) from most airport-area hotels.
