The staff was fantastic. Everyone saw to it that all our needs were met or exceeded.
It was a amazingly packed with wildlife. We were waken by howling monkeys in the morning, bird songs and butterflies. Enjoyed everything despite limitations due to Covid. Room service was a blessing and social distancing was never a problem. Good eats!

The hotel was close to the beach, but far enough away that it was quiet. The staff was really helpful and friendly. Breakfast was so delicious. The pool was lovely. The bed comfortable. We would love to stay here again.
We had a villa for two. Very nice surrounded by a lot of green.

This hotel was literally on the beach. It was wonderful to wake up to the waves. The room was clean and comfortable.
The hotel seems kind of shady, it honestly looks like a money laundering front...anyways, the rooms were clean.
All things considered it was in a good location and a nice hotel.

Top Tips
- Book 60-90 days before Guanacaste’s high season (November-April) to secure preferred rooms and better rates. For peak dates like December 15-January 4 and Easter week, reserve at least 120 days in advance to avoid limited availability and higher prices.
- A 13% VAT (IVA) and a typical 10% hotel or restaurant service charge are added to displayed rates. Confirm your total with the hotel before payment to clarify all taxes and avoid up to 23% in added costs.
- Transfer times from Liberia (LIR) airport are about 25-40 minutes to Papagayo or Playa Hermosa, 75-110 minutes to Tamarindo, and 120-180 minutes to Nosara or Montezuma. Verify door-to-door travel time with your hotel or transfer operator, especially if you have a late arrival.
- For Nosara or Montezuma, choose a 4x4 rental or private transfer, as unpaved roads and river crossings can add 30-90 minutes, particularly between May and November. Confirm current local limits and alternative routes with your provider.
- Primary beach towns usually provide 20-100 Mbps Wi-Fi, but remote Nicoya areas may have speeds below 20 Mbps and occasional outages. Ask hotels to verify Wi-Fi speed and if backup power is available, especially if you need to work or stream.
- Decline Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) and pay in Costa Rican colones (CRC) for better rates. While USD cash is accepted in many tourist areas, carry CRC for taxis, markets, and local shops where only local currency is taken.
- Tap water is generally potable in main towns, but rural hotels may use tanks or wells. Confirm with your hotel before drinking and request bottled water or a filtered dispenser if needed.
- Check if the hotel has ICT’s Certification for Sustainable Tourism (CST levels 1-5) or Bandera Azul (Blue Flag) status if sustainability matters to you. These reflect quantifiable eco-initiatives—ask about certification during booking.
- A 10% service charge is usually included in hotel and restaurant bills. If not, tip 10-15% for table service and 500-1,500 CRC (about $1-$3 USD) per day for housekeeping. Review your bill so you don’t double-tip.
- Use the hotel safe for passports and large sums, as petty theft is the main risk in tourist zones. For extra security, choose ATMs inside banks or hotels and avoid carrying large amounts of cash outside the property.
