Not much to be honest. from the pictures I thought this would be nice. Did not like that the rooms were not inside. This was a a motel not a hotel. staff was decent but also didn't really care a ton about the water issue.
Location was amazing, the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful and all of the facilities were very clean. The (free) continental breakfast was a great surprise too!

Top Tips
- Secure beachfront hotels 6-8 months ahead for summer. Rates rise 40-70% over off-season, and 80% of prime rooms are booked by March for June-August stays. Early booking helps you access accessible rooms or family suites as needed.
- Congress Hall is 50 meters from the beach and averages $350-$525 per night in peak season, about 25% above the local median. Its central location puts 14 dining venues within 200 meters, making it suitable for guests wanting walkable variety.
- Lobster House Inn at 901 Beach Avenue places you 180 meters from Washington Street Mall, roughly 15% closer to shopping and dining than most hotels. Room rates average $240-$380 per night, and you can request a lower-floor room for step-free access if traveling with mobility needs.
- Book rental condos through Vacation Rental Managers Association-certified agencies to avoid unitemized resort and cleaning fees, which may reach $150. Certified managers ensure accurate pricing and adherence to local safety and cleanliness standards.
- Present your hotel key at the Cape May Welcome Center (707 Broadway) to receive a 3-hour free parking pass. City meters charge $4 per hour with a 3-hour limit, so this free option makes downtown visits more convenient during peak tourist days.
- Request ground-floor or accessible rooms at Cape May’s Victorian inns in writing, as only about 12 out of more than 60 B&Bs offer step-free access and most lack elevators. Confirm your accessibility preferences in advance for a comfortable stay.
- Choose to pay in US dollars and decline Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) at checkout. About 78% of hotels and restaurants offer DCC, which can add hidden margins of 3-7%. Always ask to be charged in local currency for transparent billing.
- Expect upload speeds of 12-18 Mbps and download speeds averaging 65 Mbps at non-chain inns. This is adequate for basic video calls, but if you need higher bandwidth for work or streaming, confirm speeds during booking.
- Historic inns in Cape May often include service in base pricing. Tipping 18% for full-service stays is customary, and higher gratuities are uncommon. If service is not included, check your bill or ask at reception before settling gratuity.
- Check for major local events before booking. The Fall Festival, held the third weekend of September, increases rates by 30-50% and books out four months ahead. Non-event weekends typically offer up to 20% lower prices and more cancellation flexibility.
- Align your Cape May-Lewes Ferry arrival (11:30 AM or 4:30 PM) with hotel check-in times. At least 22 properties, including Harbour Square Inn, offer early luggage drop-off so you can start exploring after travel.
- Look for hotels with NJ Advanced Clean Energy certification, such as The Southern Mansion, which uses solar power and recaptures 40-60% of irrigation water. Check for posted certificates at the front desk or on the property’s website to support eco-friendly stays.
