The room was very comfortable. We used the laundry service and requested the concierge acquire a medication from a local pharmacy (since we aren't locals and don't speak Tamil), and both worked great.
Amazing restaurant and breakfast! 7 stars level, if possible. Hotel has car service at reasonable prices and very efficient. Rooms are very clean and comfortable but hotel needs new towels

Very slow service! We have lived in united states for 20 years and have traveled to plenty of places. This is by far the below average hotel we have stayed. Really doesn¿t qualify to be a star hotel. As expensive as the hotels in US but not the quality.

Top Tips
- Book hotels 4 to 8 weeks in advance for stays between December and mid-January to avoid 30-100% rate increases and sold-out rooms, especially in central Chennai neighborhoods such as Mylapore and T. Nagar. Major festivals like Margazhi and the peak wedding season drive up demand, so confirm booking terms and cancellation policies.
- Select hotels in the OMR (IT corridor) to save 30-60 minutes of commuting each day if your visit includes major IT parks like Tidel Park or Ascendas. These hotels typically provide amenities for business travelers, such as high-speed Wi-Fi and business centers.
- For airport transport, use prepaid taxi counters or app-based ride services like Ola or Uber from Chennai Airport. The typical fare to central Chennai is ₹350-₹700 (approx. $4-$8 USD), with journeys usually lasting 20-50 minutes depending on traffic; consider pre-booking for late-night arrivals or requesting accessible vehicles as needed.
- When booking between April and June, confirm that the hotel offers 24/7 generator and air conditioning backup to avoid discomfort during daytime heat, which can reach 38°C (100°F) or higher. If sensitive to heat, ask about shaded public areas or the pool for added comfort.
- Hotel bills in Chennai typically include a 5-10% service charge and local taxes. Review your itemized folio before tipping; if a service charge is listed, an additional ₹50-₹200 (approx. $0.60-$2.40 USD) tip for porters or housekeeping is customary but not required. Cards are widely accepted, but verify international card policy to avoid payment issues.
- Only drink sealed bottled or filtered water provided by your hotel, and avoid tap water to reduce health risks. Bring a refillable bottle for filtered water refills, ask about water station availability, and check that hotel ice is made from filtered water.
- For remote work, book chain or business hotels near OMR or Guindy for typically faster internet (30-100 Mbps Wi-Fi), as budget hotels may only offer 10-25 Mbps. Confirm Wi-Fi speed and request information about workspaces or meeting rooms as needed for your stay.
- When using autorickshaws in busy areas like T. Nagar, insist on the meter or use app-based ride services to avoid overcharging. Hotel front desks and concierge teams can assist with ride-hailing apps, pre-arranged transport, or provide information on government-set fares.
- Expect hotel rates within 2 km of Chepauk Stadium to increase 25-60% with limited availability during Chennai Super Kings matches or major cricket events. Book early or consider alternatives in Egmore or Nungambakkam, which are 10-15 minutes away by taxi; check if hotels offer event shuttles.
- Request a higher floor or rear-facing room to reduce noise at hotels near Marina Beach or Pondy Bazaar, where early morning crowds and announcements may be loud. Ask if soundproofing or accessible quiet rooms are available if you are sensitive to noise.
- For the best currency exchange rates, use bank ATMs instead of hotel currency desks and always select to be charged in Indian Rupees (INR) to avoid Dynamic Currency Conversion fees. Use ATMs in well-lit, secure locations; most 4-star and 5-star hotels have on-site ATMs or nearby bank branches. Verify your card’s international usage policy before departure.
