The whole vibe was wonderful from the moment I walked into the lobby, the staff was attentive and so professional and the concierge offered great tour and we loved it. The rooftop bar staff was excellent with the lovely view, pool and gym area.
The staff was extraordinarily helpful and friendly throughout our stay -almost to a person. Management and the front desk were efficient and helpful. Definitely a 5 - star experience! I would definitely recommend this hotel

There were no power converters available. You had to purchase one for seven dollars each. At one of the other hotels I stayed there. They had some American plugs.
Modern, renovated rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. Live music in lobby. The rooms were huge with very comfortable beds. All the meals in the dining room were excellent. Breakfast was included and very nice.
Service people were incredibly accommodating

Nothing. The food was wacky. The room was dirty. No coffee maker neither microwave in the room or near by. Service at the Front desk was unprofessional. Horrible experience. I am requesting my money back.

I will say that this hotel is the only resort at R¿o main tourist zone. Specially during rainy days is very appreciated to stay at the warm waters pool or enjoy their 4 restaurants or tennis courts or their 24 hrs gym. The have a kind of private beach.

Hotel staff went out of their way for me. They gave me a free upgrade to a beachfront room and allowed me a late checkout to accommodate my evening flight back to the US. Wifi excellent. Buffet breakfast was outstanding.

Great location. Friendly, helpful staff. Wonderful breakfast.
Hotel Atlântico Rio was a bargain and gave me everything I needed: A small room with a large shower, a refrigerator, a comfortable twin bed, a high level of cleanliness, knowledgeable and professional front-desk staff, and a very convenient location.

Location is great. Right in front of Copacabana Beach and 5 min walk to Ipanema Beach. Lots of restaurants and cafes in the area. Very friendly staff.
Excellent location. The best. Better than staying along the Copacabana stretch because you are so close to Ipanema at the Orla. There are many places to eat nearby - also The Fairmont is practically next door. The hotel is spotless & the staff is helpful.
The location was convenient to both Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. The rooftop was nice. The breakfast was good.

Top Tips
- Book hotels 3 to 6 months in advance for peak season (December to March) to avoid price increases of 30-50% if booking less than one month out. Carnival and summer holidays drive demand higher, so early reservations help you secure lower rates and broader room choice.
- A mandatory 10% hotel service fee, listed as 'Taxa de Serviço,' is standard and non-negotiable on hotel bills. Check if this surcharge is included in your booking total or will be added at checkout; this fee is separate from optional gratuities.
- Ipanema and Leblon offer quieter, upscale stays with direct beach access, but hotel rates here are typically 15-25% higher than in Copacabana. Compare locations based on neighborhood amenities, hotel features, and the atmosphere you want.
- If you plan to work remotely, confirm the hotel's Wi-Fi speed in advance. Hotels usually advertise 20-50 Mbps, but reliability varies - ask for recent speed test results or upload/download guarantees and whether in-room desks or coworking areas are available.
- Some municipalities outside main hotel zones charge a tourism tax under 25 BRL (approx. $5 USD) per night. Check with your hotel if this applies, as it helps support local tourism facilities.
- Store valuables in your in-room hotel safe, which is often complimentary. While thefts from rooms are rare, using the digital or keycard safe adds an extra layer of security; ask the front desk for help with setup if needed.
- Drink bottled or filtered water, as tap water in Rio is generally not recommended for drinking, even at upscale hotels. Most properties provide free bottled water or refill stations, and hot water kettles may be available if you want to boil water.
- Street noise and loud music are common, especially on weekends and holidays. Request a room on a higher floor, away from main streets, or ask if soundproof windows are available to reduce disturbances.
- Check that your room's air conditioning is working well, as Rio’s humidity makes functional AC essential, even from May to October when temperatures are cooler but still humid. Report any malfunctions immediately for prompt repair or an alternative room.
- Use reputable ride-sharing apps like Uber or 99 for travel within tourist areas, with most rides costing 25-75 BRL (approx. $5-$15 USD). Confirm your car and driver in the app and check if your hotel has a designated pick-up point to increase safety and convenience.
- Politely decline unsolicited offers of help or merchandise, especially near tourist sites, to avoid scams or inflated prices. If you need assistance, seek out uniformed hotel staff, official guides, or the hotel concierge desk.
