Food was very good, staff was kind. Contrary to popular belief, the hotel is mostly clean. Lots of outlets-and yes, there are some near bed. Shower has door. Floor is dry.

Best part is being close to the airport and the shuttle service was right on time.
Location adjacent to airport entry with pick-up and drop-off included. Breakfast was pleasantly robust (continental style: eggs to order, toast, juice, etc.) and the shower was both hot and had good pressure.

Top Tips
- Book your hotel 6-8 weeks ahead for March or October in Kathmandu, as these are peak Everest trek preparation months when hotel rates often rise 30-50%. Availability can fall below 30% just 4 weeks before arrival, especially at international chains offering airport transfers.
- For quieter nights, select hotels in Jhamel or Bhrikutimandap. These neighborhoods are 150-300 meters from Thamel’s busiest areas and typically register 8-12 dB(A) less night noise. Walking to Thamel’s main attractions takes under 12 minutes.
- Confirm your hotel uses reverse osmosis (RO) water filtration, not just UV. RO systems remove heavy metals common in Kathmandu groundwater, while UV does not. Ask or check the property description for verified filtration details.
- Always pay hotel bills in Nepalese Rupees (NPR) at point-of-sale terminals. Paying in your home currency activates Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC), which can cost an extra 4-7%. Most major chains support local-currency payment.
- Withdraw cash at ATMs located inside Nabil Bank or Standard Chartered branches. Skimming rates are 70% lower at these in-bank machines compared to standalone or hotel-adjacent ATMs, reducing risk for all travelers.
- Request hotels with backup batteries or inverters to manage power outages. Kathmandu averages 8-14 hours of scheduled outage monthly in winter, and hotels with inverters typically restore Wi-Fi and device charging in under 3 minutes.
- Avoid hotels advertising 'oxygen-enriched rooms' for acclimatization. Data shows no verified oxygen boost above ambient levels, and safe altitude adjustment requires gradual ascent, not artificial in-room claims.
- For stays of 4 or more nights, tipping 5-10% in cash Nepalese Rupees at departure can improve staff responsiveness and is considered a respectful practice, though not required. Gratuities can be given directly to housekeeping or at the front desk.
- Select properties with a Bureau of Standards Nepal (BSN) Eco-label for water conservation. These hotels use 30-40% less water, which is important during November-March when city supply drops nearly 50%. Look for the certification at check-in.
- Verify your hotel’s Wi-Fi speed is at least 15 Mbps if working remotely. While some hotels advertise high speed, reports show many offer under 10 Mbps. Business hotels in Kathmandu often deliver 18-22 Mbps. Ask the hotel for current speed data if critical.
- For lower air pollution exposure, avoid street-level rooms facing Durbar Marg. PM2.5 levels here exceed WHO limits by 4-6 times. Booking upper-floor rooms or those in inner courtyards can lower exposure by about 40%.
- Choose hotels with free shuttle service to Tribhuvan Airport (TIA) if available. Official taxi fares are NPR 800-1,000 (approx. $6-$8 USD; verify conversion), while private vans can charge up to NPR 2,500 (approx. $19 USD; verify rate). Confirm shuttle availability and schedule in advance, especially for early flights.
