Location was excellent. The motel was very close to the entrance of Smoky Mountain Park and easily walkable to downtown. It was very quiet as it was away from the main strip. Nice patio on the River. Room had no carpet. Bed was comfy. Great value.
The location and scenery were outstanding. We were close enough to the main strip in Gatlinburg that we could walk instead of drive during our outings. Having the balcony looking out over the rushing water was relaxing and peaceful.
The hotel was nothing like it was represented in the pictures. It was dirty and disgusting and we didn?t even stay. We left two hours after we checked in and had to go book a room somewhere else.

Top Tips
- Book your hotel 60-90 days ahead for peak fall foliage and holiday weekends to avoid high prices and secure popular amenities. October weekends see full bookings due to 12-13 million annual Great Smoky Mountains visitors, especially among major chains. Finalize dates early and review flexible rate terms for easy changes.
- Select a hotel with onsite parking, as public parking downtown is limited and daily rates range from $15 to $30. This saves time during high-traffic events and avoids walking several blocks with luggage or young travelers.
- Choose an upper-level, rear-facing room if a quieter stay is preferred. Rooms on the Parkway or main thoroughfares often have increased street noise from traffic and events, especially on weekends and during festivals.
- Confirm step-free access and driveway slope with the property when booking cabins, as steep grades and stairs are common in mountain rentals. This is important for travelers with strollers, mobility devices, or winter travel plans.
- Store all food and scented items in bear-proof containers or your locked vehicle, per National Park Service guidelines, to avoid property damage or fines. Black bears are frequently active within Gatlinburg city limits and resort properties.
- To access top trailheads early, book a hotel within a 10-15 minute drive (under 6 miles) of Sugarlands Visitor Center. Parking at popular Great Smoky Mountains National Park lots often fills by 10:00 AM on weekends.
- If visiting Ober Gatlinburg or traveling December-February, prioritize hotels with shuttle service or on-site garage parking. Shuttle hours and fees can vary, so confirm with the front desk, especially if arriving after 20:00.
- Before reserving a private cabin, ask about cleaning routines and septic system instructions. Many cabins have specific trash disposal rules, and confirming details helps prevent extra fees or service issues.
- Contact hotels or hosts ahead to request measured Wi-Fi speeds (Mbps) if reliable internet is needed for work. Wi-Fi performance can be inconsistent in older motels or cabins, so ask about wired options for video calls.
