Looking beyond the car break-ins, hotel itself was very comfortable and clean. Although location seemed safe, it has easy access for parking lot criminal activity. Front desk personnel very nice, but they don't monitor parking lot.

Top Tips
- During major events like Spoleto Festival (late May-early June), secure your Charleston hotel reservation 60-90 days ahead to avoid rate increases and limited room options. Rates often rise within 48 hours prior to such events.
- Expect nightly parking rates of $25-$45 at most downtown Charleston hotels. A rideshare from Charleston International Airport (CHS) to downtown averages $15-$30 one way and may be more cost-effective for stays of two nights or longer.
- If staying during hurricane season (June 1-November 30), verify your hotel’s cancellation and severe weather policies. Check National Hurricane Center updates 72 hours before arrival for local advisories.
- Historic Charleston inns may lack step-free access and elevators. Request accessible room specifics in writing, confirming step-free routes and door widths, especially in 18th- or 19th-century buildings.
- Rooms facing away from Upper King Street and Market Street, or on higher floors, can reduce street noise on busy weekend evenings. Specify your preference when booking to help ensure a quieter stay.
- Charleston tap water meets potable standards, but check local government or county websites for boil-water advisories on arrival, especially if there has been severe weather.
- Most boutique hotels in Charleston do not include breakfast in the nightly rate. Plan to spend $12-$20 per person at a local café or the hotel restaurant.
- Confirm Wi-Fi speed (in Mbps) with your hotel before relying on it for remote work. Pack a 4G or 5G hotspot as a backup, especially in smaller or historic inns where business-grade connectivity is not guaranteed.
- Contact independent and boutique hotels directly to inquire about possible waivers for parking, breakfast, or other fees with direct booking. Obtain written confirmation of any waived fees before your arrival.
