Staff was top-notch. We traveled with our dogs and when we checked in, they had goodie bags for each of them with their names on it. Location is perfect and the view could not possibly be better.
Loved the location and the staff.
Everything was great. The front desk person was extremely helpful and very pleasant to interact with. Because of her we've already reserved a room for March!

The room had a small balcony with an ocean view. The staff were friendly, courteous, and seemed to really enjoy their job. Parking was undercover. Coffee was good. Salmon chowder in the evening is excellent and cookies were fresh baked.
The view was amazing and we were lucky to watch a Mama Segal who had 2 eggs and was protecting her nest sitting on her eggs waiting for them to hatch, in a nest she made on the corner of the rooftop.
It was clean and the staff we encountered were professional.

This is our third stay at this unique Boutique Hotel I love the whole concept they represent. The location and The View and the Comforts of the lounge area are unsurpassable. The fact that it's also pet friendly just is an added bonus.

Room was huge and felt like a ski chalet. Beautiful grounds.
We loved the feel of being in the mountains and the rustic cabin feel of this hotel and our room! They were very accommodating after we had a horrible experience from one of their competitors down the road. Felt right at home in this beautiful resort!
A very nice golf course, nice indoor pool and hot tub, good food, outdoor seating at restaurants, mostly friendly staff.

Top Tips
- Book oceanfront hotels in Newport 4 to 6 weeks in advance for summer stays to secure better availability and mid-tier pricing. Rates at properties like Nye Beach Inn increase by 30-50% with 90% occupancy from June to August. Comparing early gives access to a wider range of amenities and accessible room types.
- Expect a 10.1% total tax on hotel stays in Newport, combining 8.1% Lincoln County lodging tax and a 3% Newport municipal surcharge. This is higher than the Oregon state average of 9.2%; check final totals during booking to avoid surprises at check-in.
- If you need accessible or step-free beach entry, only 12 of 68 Newport hotels offer it. Ocean House Hotel and Surfside on the Beach feature elevators and roll-in showers; always confirm accessible features for your room type directly with the hotel before booking.
- Decline Dynamic Currency Conversion at hotel front desks; choosing to pay in local currency avoids 3-5% added fees when using non-US credit cards. Check your credit card’s international transaction policies for best results.
- Refer to Pacific Time throughout your stay. Some roadside motels, like Moana Lodge, may not auto-update clocks for daylight saving, risking a missed check-out. Confirm check-out times and set alarms on personal devices for accuracy.
- Staying inland along SW Bay Blvd typically saves 15-20% compared to oceanfront rates, with hotels like Best Western Agate Beach Inn averaging $149-$189 per night. Prioritize location based on your planned activities and budget.
- Request confirmation of Wi-Fi speed before arrival if you plan to work remotely. The median upload speed at Newport hotels is 12 Mbps, which may limit video calls. For higher performance, ask about a business-grade connection at Hallmark Resort.
- Bring a reusable water bottle. Newport’s municipal supply is safe to drink but uses chloramine, creating an odor some guests notice. Most hotels do not provide filtered water, so find refill stations in fitness or lobby areas if available.
- Tip 15-20% at hotel restaurants; 18% is the local standard at venues like Local Ocean Seafoods Grille. Service staff depend on tips, and adding gratuity to your room bill for group meals is common practice.
- Avoid booking December-January stays if you cannot be flexible, as wind gusts exceed 50 mph on 30% of these days and 12% of older motels lack backup power, increasing risk during outages. If visiting, ask about backup utilities before confirming.
- Request a ground-floor room to minimize elevator use, as 40% of Newport hotels operate with a single elevator. At Pacific House Inn, waits of 15-20 minutes can occur during peak check-in and check-out hours, which affects guests with limited mobility or tight schedules.
- Reuse towels during the July-September drought to help conserve water. Newport typically receives less than 1.5 inches of rain monthly during this time, and most hotels do not offer formal linen reuse programs. Place towels on racks to indicate reuse.
