First, it has an enormous saltwater pool with two large hot tubs. Although there were many people swimming, my wife and I never felt smothered. We had plenty of space to enjoy. Second, we also loved the breakfast buffet! Plenty of delicious options.

Top Tips
- Book at least 8 weeks in advance to avoid rates doubling or tripling for University of Oklahoma (OU) home football weekends, when Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium (approx. 80,000 seats) drives high demand. Advanced booking is essential as most national chains in Norman implement event pricing and hotel inventory is limited - check early for event-specific packages or early booking rates.
- Confirm if a 2-night minimum stay or nonstandard cancellation windows apply during OU football or large event weekends before prepaying. These policies are common in Norman on high-demand dates; request written confirmation and consider booking a flexible rate when available.
- Stay along the I-35 corridor for direct access to Will Rogers World Airport (OKC), 20-25 miles north, with normal drive times of 25-35 minutes from Norman outside peak hours. Several national chains cluster near I-35 for convenient rental car return and some airport shuttles; use a real-time traffic app to avoid event-day congestion.
- Hotels near Downtown/Main Street place you within a 0.3-1.0 mile walk of multiple restaurants and bars, but onsite parking may be limited with public lots often charging $5-$15 per day. Take advantage of the walkability and confirm parking fees and options before arrival; consider using hotel shuttles or local transit if parking is challenging.
- Ask about onsite parking and event shuttle availability when booking. Many chain hotels near OU include free self-parking, while downtown or boutique hotels may charge up to $15; verify shuttle pickup times and drop-off points, as well as ADA accessibility if needed.
- Expect ride-share waits of 30-90 minutes and surge pricing after OU football games or major events. Reduce delays and costs by pre-booking a private car or leaving at staggered times; national (Uber, Lyft) and local ride-share apps are both used, and hotel concierges at larger chains may help arrange transfers.
- Verify Wi-Fi speeds for remote work by asking the hotel about typical bandwidth before arrival or performing a speed test at check-in; shared Wi-Fi can slow significantly during large campus events. Business travelers can often upgrade to premium Wi-Fi for a daily fee or use public areas like the business center if in-room speeds are insufficient.
- Ask about storm and tornado protocols and the location of designated shelters at check-in, especially during Oklahoma’s peak severe weather season (April-June). Review emergency procedures, request a copy of the emergency map, and enable mobile weather alerts for local updates.
- Request specific ADA accommodations like roll-in showers or accessible rooms at least 48 hours before arrival, as they are limited even in ADA-compliant hotels. Confirm all accessibility needs during reservation in writing and notify the front desk of any additional mobility, sensory, or dietary needs upon arrival.
- Ask about university, OU corporate, or alumni rates when visiting campus. Properties near the university often hold special rates or event blocks, and you may save compared to standard public rates by presenting valid alumni or campus ID; check loyalty apps for targeted offers, as these rates may be subject to limited availability.
