Nothing - there is nothing about this hotel to like. Rooms smell and dirt and mold are visible. Obvious drug deals were going on in at least one room and in the parking lot. The room keys do not open the exterior doors.Rocks propped open the doors.

The hotel was accommodating to us during the NCAA Sweet 16. The breakfast was outstanding. Definitely would stay again at this hotel or another Homewood Suites based on our experience in Albany. We had four rooms, and no one had any complaints.
The suite was a good size, nicely laid out and clean, and the beds were comfy. The kids had a great time at the pool, so great that it was open until 10. Great spread for breakfast and wonderful breakfast staff. Best part: Coffee all day, yay!

Had our granddaughter with us, so it was nice to have a separate sleeping space for us. Staff were friendly and very helpful! Pool was great for the grand child.
The rooms were great!!!! We checked in at 7:00 pm and our room wasn?t ready. Neither was the group?s room in front of us ready. The lady at the desk, her name started with a ?D? handled the situation amazingly and deserves a raise!

I went to Albany to take the Bar Exam. The hotel was a great location since it was less than 5 min away from the testing venue. The staff was somewhat friendly. I say this because some where extremely friendly and professional while others weren?t.

Top Tips
- Plan 15-25 minutes for a taxi or rideshare from Albany International Airport (ALB) to downtown (about $25-$40 USD; tip 10-15% for drivers is customary). Some hotels offer complimentary airport shuttles, so confirm shuttle availability before booking to avoid extra transport charges and speed up your arrival.
- Look for hotels within 0.3-0.7 miles of Empire State Plaza for a 5-15 minute walk to the New York State Museum, State Capitol, and MVP Arena. Sidewalks along these routes are generally well maintained. Parking at major attractions can be limited or may charge extra, so walking saves time and money.
- If arriving by Amtrak at Albany-Rensselaer station, downtown hotels are a 5-10 minute taxi or rideshare away. Some hotels may offer accessible shuttle pickup, so check with your hotel or ask about CDTA bus connections prior to arrival.
- The early May Tulip Festival at Washington Park drives up hotel demand. Reserve 3-6 weeks ahead to avoid price increases and limited availability. Some hotels offer festival guides or event packages; ask when booking.
- For UAlbany commencement in May and student move-in during August, book campus-adjacent hotels 6-8 weeks in advance. Check for family room availability or extended-stay options, which can sell out early during these weekends.
- Central Albany hotel parking fees are typically $15-$40 USD per day. Compare rates for valet and self-parking. Some municipal garages support overnight parking and electric vehicle (EV) charging, so check rates for longer stays.
- Lark Street in Center Square is active with nightlife. Request a higher-floor, rear-facing room to minimize noise, especially on weekends. Some hotels provide white noise machines or earplugs on request; ask at check-in.
- For Albany Medical Center visits, choose hotels in Pine Hills or along Washington Avenue (0.5-1.5 miles away). Confirm accessible room options, and inquire about hospital shuttles or medical rates for extended family stays.
- Older or historic downtown hotels may lack modern accessibility features. Call ahead to confirm step-free entry, roll-in showers, elevator access, visual alarms, and service animal policies. Request ADA rooms early, as availability is often limited.
- Remote work travelers should confirm Wi-Fi bandwidth and business center amenities, as Mbps speeds and access policies vary. For stays during MVP Arena conferences, request business room upgrades or coworking lounge access, as demand can spike.
