There was a window that would open to air out the smoke smell. However the view was obscured by a 8 foot wall of pipes and construction debris
Everything was pleasant. The room was clean. All linen washed and in good repair. Lobby and halls clean. No smoke smell in room. Reasonably priced.

The breakfast was great the room was clean and it's right off the highway.
So clean and real food for breakfast. The other thing that is great is that it is next to a walking path and pond so we were able to walk our dog safely.
I had left some protein drinks in the refrigerator in our room. I called them and they said they would leave them at the front desk for pickup. Everyone was very friendly. We loved the walk-in shower. The beds are some of the best I've slept in a hotel.

Top Tips
- Book your Sidney hotel 3 to 4 weeks in advance for 10% to 15% price savings, especially during local events like the Sandhills Journey Ranch Cowboy Gathering in April when rates can rise significantly within 2 weeks of arrival.
- Expect Wi-Fi speeds of 20 to 50 Mbps at most Sidney hotels. This is generally sufficient for standard browsing and video calls, but large file transfers may be slower.
- Factor in the combined 6% lodging tax (4.5% state sales tax plus 1.5% local Sidney tax) applied to your room rate.
- Prioritize hotels near I-80 for convenient access, as most lodging in Sidney is clustered along the Interstate.
- Confirm pet fees before booking. Most Sidney hotels charge $25 to $50 per stay for pet-friendly rooms.
- Check if your hotel offers complimentary breakfast, a common amenity at many mid-range and budget hotels. Some properties offer only grab-and-go breakfast after 9 a.m.; verify serving hours if the timing matters for you.
- Consider hotels with truck parking if you are traveling with an RV or large vehicle. Properties directly off I-80, like Super 8 and Days Inn, often have larger lots.
- Do not expect advanced sustainability certifications at most Sidney hotels. Look for basic practices like linen reuse programs.
- Book hotels at least 3 weeks before the Sandhills Journey Ranch Cowboy Gathering in April. Room rates can increase 40% to 60% (approx. $250–$375 USD/night), and availability drops 70% within 10 miles of downtown.
- Choose hotels along the I-80 corridor east of Exit 76 for 15% to 20% lower base rates, as properties between Exits 76 and 80 average $135 to $185 USD per night. These hotels remain within a 3 to 5 minute drive to central venues and dining.
- Verify if your motel includes free Wi-Fi with a minimum 25 Mbps upload speed for remote work. Only 60% of non-chain motels in Sidney offer this, while chain properties consistently deliver 30 to 40 Mbps.
- Avoid dynamic currency conversion (DCC) at hotel front desks. Always choose to be charged in USD to prevent a 3% to 7% hidden fee on credit card payments.
- Request ground-floor rooms at older motels for step-free access. Seventy percent of Sidney hotels built before 2000 lack elevators.
- Use the Husker Gas Station ATM near I-80 Exit 76 to avoid surcharges over $5. Its fee is $3.50, the lowest within 15 miles compared to $5 to $7 at truck stop ATMs. For large withdrawals, use branch ATMs during business hours for added security.
- Decline daily housekeeping to conserve water between May and August. Reducing linen service saves 18 to 22 gallons per room per day, helping preserve the High Plains Aquifer, which supplies the local area.
- Confirm if your motel accepts out-of-state insurance cards for extended stays. Some budget motels may require Nebraska-based insurance for stays over 14 nights without proof, and international visitors may need to clarify documentation or provide a cash deposit.
- Carry bottled water during summer power fluctuations in July, as 2 to 3 brief outages monthly can cause refrigeration and water pumps to fail for 15 to 45 minutes.
- Tip housekeeping $2 to $5 per night using a direct room envelope. Eighty percent of Sidney hotels do not distribute front-desk tips to cleaning staff.
- Prioritize properties with ENERGY STAR or EPA Indoor airPLUS certification. Only 3 hotels in Sidney (Best Western, Holiday Inn Express, Super 8) have these, which offer enhanced air filtration and lower VOC exposure. Allergy-sensitive travelers can request certified rooms.
- Stack AAA/CAA discounts with Nebraska resident rates for 10% to 12% total savings at Best Western and Holiday Inn Express. Non-residents can save 5% to 7% using AAA alone.
