The hotel room was very musty smelling and damp/humid. We had to purchase a plug in air freshener, and everything in the room felt wet at all times.
The staff is extraordinary. The hotel was full, and when we arrived, we were upgraded to an executive king suite. The setting is lovely with some wetlands just on the other side of the parking lot. The manager is lovely.

Hotel consists of two different buildings. I stayed in the newer, four year old building which meant the room was in good shape. Location is in a residential neighborhood which is a plus.

Top Tips
- Book your Quincy hotel 2 to 3 months in advance for major events like the Dogwood Festival in May, as rates typically increase 25-35% and centrally located rooms fill quickly. Reserve early to secure your preferred room type and location.
- Expect state and local taxes to add 11-13% to your Quincy hotel bill, which means about $15 per night on a $100 room. Review the total at booking to avoid surprise fees at checkout.
- Hotels within 0.5 to 1 mile of downtown Quincy attractions, such as Villa Kathrine, offer fast access to dining and entertainment, plus a crime rate 20-30% below the Illinois average. Choose downtown locations for convenience and peace of mind.
- Wi-Fi speeds at Quincy hotels often range from 50 to 100 Mbps, useful for streaming or remote work. Summer thunderstorms can cause outages, so confirm a wired backup option directly with your hotel if you require uninterrupted internet.
- Quincy has humid summers reaching 90°F (32°C) with up to 80% humidity and winters that drop to 10°F (-12°C). Request a room with functional air conditioning or heating to stay comfortable in all seasons.
- Many downtown Quincy restaurants and services close by 9 PM to 10 PM on weekdays except during festivals. Plan to dine earlier or check hotel restaurant hours for late-night options.
- Quincy Regional Airport (UIN) has limited scheduled commercial flights and a small rental car fleet. Confirm both your air service and rental car availability before booking to ensure your travel schedule fits local options.
- Hotels west of downtown or on higher ground are less likely to face road closures and parking issues from Mississippi River high water, most common in spring (March-May). Call ahead to verify road and parking conditions if you visit during this period.
- Chain hotels near the I-172/US-24 corridor typically provide complimentary parking. Many historic downtown inns may not offer dedicated parking or elevators, so contact your hotel about parking access and elevator availability if mobility is a concern.
- Reserve conference or meeting space for groups of over 30 people at least 6 to 12 weeks ahead, as Quincy has few large conference hotels and weekends fill quickly. Confirm availability directly with your chosen property.
- Call historic downtown Quincy hotels directly to confirm accessibility features, including step-free access, accessible rooms, and door widths, as narrow staircases are common and step-free routes may be limited.
