Staff were so helpful. Breakfast buffet was very good. Very comfortable atmosphere. I would stay again on my next visit.
The location of the hotel was just out of town so away from traffic and it was clean.
Great location and the pool and fire pits were perfect endings each night.

The room was large, and very comfortable. I stay at quite a few hotels, and this was by far the cleanest that I've ever been in.
Even though this hotel is older the rooms had excellent amenities. Not many hotels offer TWO king beds and a ceiling fan! The cleaning staff came in and tidied up and made the beds during our stay. The breakfast had lots of options and plenty of staff.
Everything about the place met our needs.

Closeness to RMNP and everything in the city of Estes Park. Nice renovated bathroom and kitchen. Beautiful setting along Fall River in which pictures don’t do it justice!
Convenience to town and gorgeous views.

The view was excellent, the restaurant food was good and was reasonably priced for breakfast and lunch.
The resort is on the quiet east end of the lake but just a short drive to all the shops and just magnificent. The ground and facilities are well maintained and the Dunraven Restaurant is better than the high praise is typically receives.
Bar and restaurant staff were fabulous ! super friendly and had a great time.

The location and private cabins
Very cozy cabin with nice little mountain touches here and there. The sleeper love seat was amazingly comfortable. The very best part was the private trail to RMNP. Rather steep so not for the faint of heart, but absolutely beautiful.

The rustic look with the water flowing right past the balcony to our room. The cookies in the office were made fresh daily. And Aspen the dog was there to great me each day.
The staff and room was awesome close to town. We will be back soon
We loved the little porch overlooking the stream.

Got a good price and nice room. I stayed at this location about 30 years ago and it was very dirty and outdated. The owners have put a lot of work into it and made it very nice.
The staff were polite
Staff was super friendly, hotel was very clean, complimentary breakfast was amazing!

Friendly atmosphere. Clean and well kept
It was clean, and the short walk into downtown was perfect. We liked our cozy balcony overlooking the river. It was a cute place to stay. The breakfast options were light, but that?s what I expected going in. I liked the fire pit.

Management speaks very good English and easy to understand.
Nothing at all. We did expect it to not be as top notch as others, but this is by far the worse hotel we have ever stayed. The ac in our room didnt work. looked to be new. hotel staff brought a box fan. reduced the bill by 20.00. should have been 100%
Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable of the area which helped us schedule our 1 day in the area. Very accommodating and friendly, as we arrived late evening.

Best location. Right off the union station. Staff was super courteous, friendly and helpful.
Loved the location of this hotel - within walking distance of shopping and dining in Estes Park - and tucked away by a mountain stream no less! One of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. Will definitely be back!

This property exceeded our expectations. Very clean and cozy. It¿s beautiful, we went during Dec so the snow and Christmas decor/lights was icing on the cake. Definitely will stay again!
Woodlands on Fall River exceeded our expectations. We were blown away by how big the room was, the location, the beauty of the grounds, how clean everything was, the details (complimentary popcorn, apple cider, coffee, etc.), and comfort of the room.
Great location with the stream in the back. The atmosphere is really serene. Well maintained rooms.

Top Tips
- Book Estes Park hotels at least 2-3 months ahead for stays between June and October, as properties like The Stanley Hotel fill quickly during summer weekends and the fall elk-rut. Confirm your reservation dates, as many hotels require non-refundable deposits for peak periods.
- Make your Rocky Mountain National Park timed-entry reservation through recreation.gov as soon as your hotel is booked. This system is required most days between late May and mid-October and is not available through hotels.
- Arriving at 7,500-7,800 ft elevation, start with water intake of 2-3 liters (68-102 oz) in your first 24 hours and minimize alcohol to help prevent altitude sickness. Many hotels offer complimentary refill stations or bottled water - verify upon check-in.
- Downtown hotel parking is limited and often costs $15 to $25 per day. Ask your property about shuttle availability to downtown or the national park; most run at least hourly during peak season.
- Wildlife, including elk, deer, and bears, may appear near hotels and in town. Maintain at least 25 yards (23 m) from elk or deer, and store food securely in your vehicle or in provided lockers. Feeding wildlife is strictly prohibited.
- Expect lodging taxes totaling 10-15% of your nightly rate, plus possible resort, parking, or pet fees. Request a detailed breakdown before confirming payment - hotels are required to disclose all mandatory charges at booking.
- Typical U.S. tipping for staff: bellhops $15 per bag, valet $15, housekeeping $15 per night. Leave daily for housekeeping, and tip concierge 10-20% for specialized assistance such as booking tours.
- Pack moisture-wicking layers and a waterproof shell, as daytime temperatures can swing 30°F (17°C) and thunderstorms often occur after 1 pm June-September. From October-April, request an all-wheel-drive rental or bring snow chains.
- When booking, request a room with a view toward the mountains, Lake Estes, or the river, and specify a room away from US Highway 34 if sensitive to road noise. Room orientations vary, so verify options by calling your hotel directly.
- Clarify which amenities are included: not all properties offer hot tubs, fireplaces, kitchenettes, or pet-friendly policies. For safety and local compliance, verify if fireplaces are wood-burning, electric, or gas.
- Explore historic tours or paranormal events at The Stanley Hotel; visitor tickets start around $15. Many hotels partner with local outfitters for guided hikes or horseback riding, so check at the front desk for current packages.
- Hotels typically enforce quiet hours between 10:00 pm and 8:00 am. Respect these hours to help maintain the restful environment for guests and residents.
- If traveling for work, confirm in-room Wi-Fi coverage and speed before arrival, as cell signal strength is limited in parts of Estes Park. Ask about business amenities like printing or a dedicated desk.
- Hotel front desks regularly update on local trail conditions, shuttle times, and restaurant openings. Notify staff of plans like pre-dawn hikes for packed breakfast options or early parking advice.
- Opt for rooms with free cancellation unless travel plans are fixed, as unpredictable weather or park closures occasionally disrupt trips. Check the cancellation timeframe, often 24-48 hours before check-in, for a refund.
- Check-in requires a government-issued photo ID and a credit or debit card for incidentals. Request late check-in instructions in advance if arriving after 8:00 pm, as front desk hours may be limited at smaller hotels.
- Families can request suites, kitchenettes, or adjoining rooms. Ask about laundry on-site and restaurant menus with child-friendly options, as larger properties typically have these amenities.
- Solo guests may prefer hotels within 0.5 mi (800 m) of downtown or Lake Estes for easy, well-lit access to restaurants and shops. For safety, join group hikes or guided day trips and ask staff for recommendations.
- Major hotels and most restaurants take cards, but bring at least $15 to $40 in cash for local markets or tip jars, especially at smaller or seasonal venues.
- For early hikes, many hotels offer boxed breakfasts if requested by 6:00 pm the night before. Confirm availability and pickup time with your front desk when checking in.
- Request luggage storage before check-in or after check-out for early hikes or late departures. Some properties also allow guest access to showers and public spaces post-check-out, so ask at reception for availability.
- Select hotels with visible eco practices, such as energy-efficient lighting or recycling programs. Estes Park venues commonly display Environmental Leadership Program membership, so look for this at check-in.
