Hotel Guest Reviews of the Touchstone Hotel - City Center

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Not as pictured. Carpets were super gross. Bathroom vanity was so narrow my elbows hit the wall while blow drying my hair. No AC. TV was awful. So close to bed that u couldn't see the picture.

The only things which were nice about the hotel were the food at the diner and the politeness of the staff.
The bed was dirty, the room was small, the closet was microscopic and there was no ventilation.

This hotel was not as advertised. If it was, I would have never of stayed there. The bed sheets felt dirty and the really were. My girlfriend even woke up with someone else's spoiled band-aide stuck to her leg from inside the sheets. For a hotel which is located in a city which has one of, if not the, highest population of people with H.I.V. and A.I.D.S. to leave dirty sheets on a bed is unacceptable. Especially ones that are so dirty it is clear to the touch and with a soiled bandage, containing a dried bodily fluid on it, is UNACCEPTABLE. There was also literally NO VENTILATION. The hallway smelled stale and the room smelled liked it had not been aired out in a while. No air vents were located in the room. It was very cold at night and there was no thermostat or heating system. A small portable electric heater was on the floor. In the bathroom, there was a housing unit for a ceiling fan but it never turned on. I spoke to the staff about it and was advised that the staff had removed the fan from my bathroom (even though that was the ONLY source of ventilation in the entire room) because the people in the next room had complained that they did not like the sound of the fan being on. It's one thing to just deal with a much smaller than normal room. But to be made to sleep in dirty sheets with soiled bandages has to be some type of health code violation. I'm strongly considering filing an official complaint with whatever organization handles the health requirements of hotels. I will never stay there again and can never recommend anyone else to do so either. ...read more

This hotel is in a great location. Can get a bit noisy at night, but what would expect from being in the city.

The location in the city was great.
I had a room that faced the street. It got a little loud at night.

Great place to stay. Staff is nice and the rooms are great. I would avoid the diner that is attached. My girlfriend and I got breakfast and it was not good. It was in a good area, plenty of options for food and shopping within walking distance and lots of options for public transportation. So if you're going to explore the city, I would ditch the car and take the trolleys/trains/buses. ...read more

A lot of reviews about this hotel online were unjust. It was great! Above what I expected... A couple of blocks away from shopping on Market St. and great food! Bed was clean and comfy, room nice, bathroom nice and hot shower.
People's complaints were that the room was too small, and its too noisy. The room was perfect size for sleep and rest and relaxation... Not 1000 sq ft but who stays in their room all day in SF? And too noisy? That's the city for you! Not the hotels fault.

Overall great stay, our car had trouble on the way out to the city so we had to drop at dealership and take Bart out to SF. We thought the trip had got off to a bad start, but as soon as we got to the hotel our spirits instantly lifted. The room was nice for the city, and after a shower and change we were able to find a amazing restaurant after 11pm right around the corner (impossible in the central valley). Woke up from a great sleep and Starbucks is right next door. Checked out and walked to market st. to shop. A 10-15 min walk... Perfect to enjoy the city on the way. We didn't have our car and had to get a rental for the day, the hotel checked our bags for us no prob and didn't charge. I have already recommended this place to all friends and fam and through Facebook... I have stayed in the city a few times. As far as location, price, cleanliness, quality of room, and service this is the best I've found. I will stay again! ...read more

We arrived in the morning after an all-night flight, and the desk clerk was able to get us into a room, even though it took some re-arrangements. While our room was small and basic, it was much more comfortable and quiet than we expected based on reviews.
Not really. Our only recommendation is to walk up Mason Street rather than Taylor to avoid the street people.

Try to stay on floor 5 or above, and on the back side of the hotel.

Great location for the Curran Theatre.
Minor negatives: tv only had about 5 channels and the wifi was a little iffy.

This is an older hotel so the rooms and bathrooms are small. Our room was clean and quiet and we felt safe. The staff was friendly. It reminded me of many European hotels I've stayed in. The location is great. We were directly across the street from the Curran Theatre and 1 1/2 blocks down from Union Square. I would stay here again.

Good location.
Room was very small.

Satisfactory for one night, wouldn't not recommend staying past that, however if the only other options in the price range are hostels and
then definitely choose this one. Bathroom was small, closet was so small its almost non-existent. Basically think of a low-income apartment building with small studio apartments and no frills, that's this place. The cleanliness of the room seemed about average. ...read more
