Hotel Guest Reviews of the The Westin Beach Resort, Fort Lauderdale

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The beds at Westin are always great. Location right on a public beach.
Location is kind of remote (surrounded by other hotels but not much else, so dining choices are limited). Front desk service was great at check-in, but the rest of the service was subpar, especially in the restaurants. There was an added resort fee.

This is really a conference hotel, though they try to pass it off as a resort. I was annoyed to have to pay an additional resort fee as this was far from a real resort hotel. It's two towers with a big conference space between them. The "resort" aspects are a spa (which we didn't use), a small pool (which we didn't use), and access to a public beach (which anyone could use). The Shula's restaurant that was there has recently closed and reopened under a new name. The breakfast buffet was expensive for the quality of food it offered. That might have been tempered by good service but everyone in the restaurant was terrible in one way or another. The hostess just stood there with no idea of how to give an accurate wait time. There was someone I presume was a manager doing the actual seating of guests and he was doing it very slowly. Tables weren't being bussed very quickly even though there was a line out the door. The wait staff was the worst I've seen in a very long time in any place. An elderly gentleman a few tables away from us asked his own waitress for coffee at least three times. He finally flagged down the waitress from our section who YELLED at him that he wasn't in her section. Since it appeared that very few people were ordering from the menu, these servers were simply in charge of getting drinks (but apparently not refilling them), cleaning away dirty plates (which didn't happen for anyone around us), and bringing the check (which took 15 minutes from the time we asked). Somehow they couldn't manage these very simple tasks, and I'm still not sure why. We also ate at the pool bar restaurant and the service there wasn't as rude but it was extremely slow. There was another restaurant listed in the room directory (a sushi place), but it appears to have closed. I would think twice about choosing to stay in this hotel again unless offered a really great price (I would define that as less than $--- per night) and only then if it was for one night. ...read more

The room was beautifully appointed, clean, and spacious. The common areas of the hotel were well laid-out and honestly... smelled so nice!
We weren't aware that valet parking was required but as we were on vacation on a beautiful and popular beachfront, it wasn't a shock. We only wish we had been aware so we could have had a cash tip for the poor soul who had to retrieve our car at 6 AM!

restaurant was closed so the temporary make shift one in a conference room absolutely sucked.

Location, Starbucks on site, ocean access with beach towels and chairs, great customer service.
Small things: the additional charge for parking, no snack bar / quick breakfast in the hotel, although Starbucks is on site their food isn't great, few brochures re: local activities.

Nice location.
Doors slamming Closed while we were trying to sleep. I thought a 4 star would have easy close doors. The doors closing actually shook our room walls! There were a bunch of hidden fees too.

It was clean and the staff was very accommodating. Also you get 2 free cocktails for every night you spend at the hotel which is very nice.
There was quite a walk to our hotel room...every time we went from the lobby to our room we had to take 2 elevators. Also, 1 day housekeeping came & we were still in the room so she said she would come back later but she didn't.

Unfortunately I am experiencing a problem with the hotel now. I left something important to me in the hotel room. Housekeeping claims they don't throw anything out but I know exactly where I left it and my friend who stayed with me there is a witness to this. Although they claim to have searched the whole room, they say it's not there which means that either they threw it out irresponsibly or they are not looking properly. ...read more

Great location, helpful staff, comfy bed.
Layout was a bit strange, bathrooms have nearly no privacy.
