Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. It is NOT on the beach. You have to walk under the highway to get to the beach. Not many restaurants close by.

The staff was very friendly and the pool and beach area on the inside section of the resort were great. Lots of hammocks, water slides, etc. Convenient little beach bar. Travel via public bus was affordable and easy.
The oceanside restaurant/beach bar was closed for renovations. This was not indicated on their website. The beach itself was disgusting; we even saw a syringe. Sandyport charged $5 per person/day for house keeping, our room was never cleaned.

I have mixed feelings about our time at Sandyport and Nassau in general. The resort is a mix of hotel rentals, privately owned condos and timeshares. It is located on the canal with a path to the ocean. Pros: The staff was very friendly and the pool and beach area on the inside section of the resort were great. Lots of hammocks, water slides, etc. I thoroughly enjoyed the pool area. Also near the pool is a small beach bar. Chef Cleveland runs the bar and also cooks breakfast, lunch and will do private dinners. We had him make us dinner our second night in Nassau and he made a delicious fresh grouper that was perfectly seasoned. His steak omelets were also a perfect way to start our days. There was a family of stingrays that resided in the canal and various tropical fish - very cool. The resort is bordered by several restaurants and shops within walking distance. Travel via public bus was affordable and easy. We found it to be the best way to explore the island. The cons: We were disappointed that the oceanside restaurant/beach bar was closed for renovations. This was not indicated on their website. Also, the beach itself was disgusting; there were beer bottles everywhere and we even saw a syringe. Sandyport charged $5 per person per day for maid service. Our room wasn't cleaned the entire time we were there, it was like pulling teeth to get clean towels and the coffee pot had an old filter/grounds in it when we arrived. There was also no coffee in the room and it was a hassle to get it brought to us. Ridiculous on all counts considering we paid $50 in fees for housekeeping. They also charged $12 per person per day for electricity. One morning the power was out for several hours. Sandyport advertised snorkel gear free to guests. There was only one set. Again, mixed feelings about our stay at Sandyport. Friendly staff but many shortcomings as well. ...read more
