Hotel Guest Reviews of the Rodeway Inn Mid Town

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

convenient location
No elevator. No clock radio or hair dryer. Funky smells. Weird room layout. No thermostat controls.

Great location in a lovely, historic neighborhood.
Honestly, I didn't expect much, but the bathroom wasn't completely finished (detached tiles, incomplete trim), the water pressure was non-existent, and the hot water wasn't exactly hot.

Great location with excellent public transit. The management is sincere and well-intentioned, but a bit inept. For example, I left for the day and came back late in the afternoon, and found that my room had not been cleaned. I mentioned this to the manager, who told me that most guest tell them not to touch the rooms, and that I should have told them I wanted service. I countered that the standard practice is the opposite, and they both apologized and promised to take care of it while I was out to dinner. When I came back later that evening, the room was made up, and the towels had all been replaced. On the positive side, the room was quirky but pleasant. It was decorated just as in the pictures, with a fairly comfortable, albeit slightly too firm, bed. The room actually had a bedroom with the TV and a desk, and a small separate sitting room with two comfortable armchairs chairs oddly placed facing the refrigerator. As I had a fully-booked weekend and just needed a clean and convenient place to sleep, it suited my needs. And the price was certainly reasonable. ...read more

The location was one mile from the inner harbor.
Water leaked from the ceiling, the power surged and sparked after plugging in a hotel provided fan, the room did not look clean with debris in the window, the room was very hot because it was on the third floor and was a part of a single central heating..

For the reasons listed above, we left the hotel at around 9pm the day we checked in. We were not interested in spending the night in what was a very unsafe hotel. This experience ruined our trip. This hotel should no longer be listed on Priceline. This hotel is a blemish to Baltimore and Priceline alike.

Nothing.
The staff are terrible liars. At several times they said things that were complete fabrications or claimed that I didn't do something when I definitely did.

No elevator. Noticed that I had heavy bags and put me on the fourth floor when they had availabilities on the 1st. Several times through out my stay they tried to move my room. During my first night some patrons drunkenly ran through the hallway and banged on peoples doors. Another time I ran into a man holding his clothes and only wearing boxers. You get what you pay for. ...read more

i did not stay at this hotel and was refused a refund. The room was advertised as non smoking, but there was an overpowering odor of smoke in the room. since i have severe asthma induced by smoke this was a big problem.
we were not accommodated with another room, but we were offered a suite for another payment.

Leaving it
The sheets on the bed were stained and torn. The pillows were stained. Bathroom towels had stray hairs from other customers. Bathroom towels were stained. Bathroom floor hadn't been swept. The toilet was disgusting. The small space heater stopped working.

This "hotel" is good if you need a quick space to stay and are satisfied with receiving the bare minimum. An older gentleman was at the front desk for most of the time and he isn't too pleasant. He handled a few problems for me, but it wasn't done with customer satisfaction in mind. The bed sheets and towels are deplorable. They are full of stains and rips in the fabric. The shower is laughable due to poor water pressure. The building gets very cold at night and if the heat in the building isn't high enough you definitely feel the draft from the windows. I am grateful I had this place instead of the street to sleep on. However, next time I will spend more money to ensure a more pleasant stay. ...read more

the room had a lot of character--as did the building
there was no toilet paper in the room, no smoke detector, no fire exit plan on the door, parking is a huge pain in the butt

it was a pretty nice place and a great value

Location
Awful maintenance.

Excellent location in an historic neighborhood, close to monuments and shops. Absolutely horrible room. I got a room (after a four-floor walkup) that measured approximately 8' x 12' (see photo). There was no window in the room. I could barely squeeze inside with my luggage because the door hit the bed. The sheets and towels were worn threadbare, every electrical appliance (fire alarm, light, shower fan) was missing its cover, there were holes in the ceiling, the shower took a small eternity to heat up and never got above a trickle. And I'm pretty sure it hadn't been cleaned in a week, if not a month. I would never, ever stay here again, but if you are absolutely destitute, it beats a bench in the park. ...read more

It is within walking distance of many cultural venues.
Quality of the room was not up to my expectations, which were low to begin with.

This is a decent choice if all you need is an inexpensive, basic room in a convenient location in midtown Baltimore. But it's nothing special, so look elsewhere if you have high standards. I should emphasize that the location in midtown Baltimore is excellent if you want to be within walking distance of Mount Vernon cultural attractions. It's also within a few blocks of light rail and several bus routes, and Penn Station isn't far off. There's no on-site parking, though. I stayed two nights at this hotel a year ago and had a satisfactory experience. This time I stayed for just one night, and it was less satisfactory, due to a lot of little inconveniences. First, the room was not fully cleaned after the previous guest: there were traces of brown and yellow food (I think) in the sink, and the carpet looked like it needed vacuuming. Also, there was no complimentary soap in the bathroom (I brought my own). Water pressure in the shower was a little low, and the hot water wasn't all that hot. Plus the bathroom mirror was hung very crooked. I tried to reposition it but gave up when it kept sliding back to the same off-axis orientation. The lamps on either side of the bed were not plugged in; I ended up plugging one in myself (plugging in the other one would have required me to unplug the floor lamp since there apparently weren't enough outlets in the room for all the lamps). I also had some trouble maintaining a connection to the hotel's free WiFi, probably because the WiFi access point on my floor was at the opposite end of the hall. The free continental breakfast was nothing to write home about. All these minor issues added up to a somewhat negative impression of this hotel's quality. Still, I would probably consider staying here again if I can't find another hotel at a comparable price and location, which are its main selling points. ...read more

I can¿t say anything nice about the building or its location. I believe Priceline should do its diligence to their customers and report accurate information.
This place is NOT safe! Random people, loitering and dancing right in front of the building; the owner allows such behavior because he is outside smoking with them. NO Parking either, but if they did offer parking, you would not be able to rest

Please do NOT STAY HERE... UNLESS YOU DON'T MIND DRUGS, HOMELESS PEOPLE STANDING AND WALKING AROUND DAY AND NIGHT!
