Hotel Guest Reviews of the Pension Francia

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

High level of cleanliness is apprent from the moment you enter the premises. Fresh, clean and topped off with a very sincere welcome (lady with curly brown hair). Great location. No noise.
Decor, funriture - overall appearance of hotel is tired and dated.

Location! If you don't care for comfort, it is a good option. Other guests were pretty decent too (I thought it would be scary as per cheap price, but no)
Room was horrible, the pension had a very strong soap smell that made me sick. I was hoping for a room with balcony as another reviewed said all rooms had a balcony, but mine was just a little square that didn't have space for two open suitcases.

Staff was friendly. Internet was good. Location was great. Room looked a bit like a prison cell - if you get a room with balcony I guess the experience would be 100% better. Prepare to climb up the stairs with your suitcase. I don't know how this hotel got a two stars rating; it should be zero. But great location and better than sharing a room with strangers in a hostel. Also, I lost 100 euros that I left in my purse that stayed in the room... Don't want to blame anyone, obviously, it probably fell from my purse but very suspicious... should have hidden it better I guess. ...read more

The hotel's proximity to attractions in Barcelona is top notch.
The walls are paper-thin. Thus, you can hear literally everything going on on the floor all hours of the day. Including what may be the entire building's plumbing other guests/staffs' personal conversations, tvs, fussy babies, etc. And all can hear you.

The fan is billed as an amenity & we used it to dampen noise. Then on our third night the night clerk told us we could not run it as it made too much noise. I hazard to think what they do in June if guests are not allowed to use fans as there is also no AC in the rooms. There was no way to lock our window; this was only okay as we were three floors from the ground. The safe in the room is also not bolted to anything, which kind of defeats the purpose. Our room was literally six inches away from the clerks window on the other side of paper-thin walls. So, every night we could hear and smell the clerk's dinner. As well as being woken every time someone needed buzzed in the front door three floors down. The upside of this being, there was someone on staff 24 hour a day. Also, one could not simply walk in off the street and gain entrance without being seen by the staff. Staying here would be "fine" if you do not plan to spend much time it the room. And why would you if you are visiting Barcelona! These accommodations would be fine for young people who wish to see Barcelona's night life. If you wish to sleep at all during your vacation, then please think twice and go with something more expensive assuming it promises quieter rooms. ...read more

Every room came with a balcony that over looked the beautiful streets of Barcelona. Private room that I could dump my stuff and get back. Very close to the rail station and ATM along with every other amenities and beach. Picasso Museum was 5 minute walk.
Be prepared to climb some steps. Not a major issue, but worth noting.

Would definitely stay here again and recommend.

It was cheap and in a nice location.
No one spoke English, and you get yelled at for coming in late even though it is a 24 hour hostel
