Hotel Guest Reviews of the Hotel Hokke Club Kyoto

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

Friendly, helpful and English-proficient staff, as well as my preferred location very close to Kyoto rail station.
Would have been slightly better if the hotel had its own breakfast facilities, but there was an independent resturant downstairs that was only slightly less convenient.

Clean, modern and well-functioning facilities. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, with good English proficiency. Location, right across the street from the Kyoto rail station, was ideal for my purposes. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for similar situation. Two items that were not significant negatives, but kept the evaluation from being "perfect": 1) As compared to the hotel I stayed at the prior few days, in Tokyo, the Kyoto hotel provided less "bang for the buck", but that may be solely a function of the two markets (although that is a bit counterintuitive - -one would expect Tokyo to be more expensive, but there may be non-obvious reasons why Kyoto is the more expensive market). 2)It would have been better if the hotel itself had breakfast options, but there was an unaffiliated restaurant on the bottom floor of the building that offered breakfast, so the the inconvenience was trivial. Bottom line, I found the hotel to be "as advertised", I enjoyed the stay, and would definitely consider staying there again if I go back to Kyoto. ...read more

Very economical. Very helpful staff and information. Very nice location.
Key situation

It is very low cost and the room size reflects that. It has everything you need, but nothing beyond that. It is very clean and was perfect for what we wanted: a place to sleep in a great location. It's essentially a bed, a small desk with tv and a tiny bathroom. That's it but that's all we needed. It almost feels like a room on a cruise boat. But make no mistake, it had everything we needed and was across the street from the bus and train station. Also, there beds were very firm, but that seemed to be the case everywhere we stayed in Japan. Also, what was weird was how the key worked. You had to leave the key near the door in this slot to get the power to the room on. This is obviously so that if you leave the room, it doesn't draw any power. The bummer is that means you can't have the AC on while you're gone. This is good for them because it saves on energy bills and it's honestly not that bad because the room was small and cooled down in less than 5 minutes, but was strange. Also, you have to leave your key with the front desk while you're out for the day. I guess it's no big deal and one less thing in your pocket, but it seemed weird to me. But still, loved it for the price. ...read more
