Hotel Guest Reviews of the Hotel Dolores Alba Merida

Our hotel ratings and reviews are from real hotel guests. Priceline.com ensures that its reviews are guests-only by proactively sending hotel surveys to customers after they've completed their hotel stays. In the post-stay surveys, priceline.com hotel customers are asked a number of questions about their stay and the hotel. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, the survey asks guests to rate their overall experience and specifically rate the hotel's cleanliness, staff and location. Priceline.com does not allow site visitors to post unsolicited hotel reviews.

The location is in the city center near the zocalo and full breakfast buffet that serves dinner at the same time taking it around 9:00 in the morning and very secure indoor parking for our car.
The unpleasant smell of drains in the bathroom of our room 357 and that the wifi works well only in the dining room and adjacent sofas.

The price is reasonable especially when booked online with Priceline! Please note that the rate negotiated by Priceline is a room in the colonial part and if you want to have a more spacious and modern room in the premium around the pool area, you must pay a small fee which is worth it.

Nice room, close to Merida's Central Plaza.
Neighboring bars play very loud music until 1 am, making it very hard to sleep.

Good hotel in a poor location. Best thing: it is only 3 blocks from Merida's Central Plaza, so it is a short walk to most tourist locations. But, it is in the commercial area of Merida (SE of the Plaza), not an attractive part of the City. The big problem for me was the amplified music from local bars at night, which kept me awake until 1 am. So if you stay here, either stay out late or bring a white noise generator to block the bar music. The hotel has two sections - colonial and new. The colonial section is cheaper but the rooms are small and dark. The rooms in the new section are large, bright and airy. Unless you are on a tight budget, stay in the new section, it is much nicer. The hotel provides small hand soap but does not provide bath soap or shampoo, so you have to bring your own. Also, it does not provide complimentary bottled water. And in case you were wondering, the "20 Frida Kahlo masterpieces" they advertise on their web site are cheap reproductions, not actual paintings by Kahlo. ...read more

Great location, large room which was quite clean. Great breakfast, delicious and a lot! The pool!! Room rates were great, a real value given the location, room size, pool, etc. Overall, except for the perfumed smell, I would recommend.
The entry to the building is very poor. Definitely not a good first impression. The room furnishings are tired. The worst part was the strong, overbearing perfumed "smell" in the room. I could not sleep because of it.

Overall, a good value. Plusses are great location, clean, nice pool, big delicious breakfast, large room, reasonably comfortable bed, great water pressure in the shower, helpful staff, and very reasonable rates. Negatives include . . . The furnishings are rather tired and uninteresting. The entry is very shabby. There was a strong perfumed smell in the room, like it had been heavily sprayed with rose water perfume. It was impossible to get rid of it, and gave me such a headache the first night that I could not sleep. The staff was very responsive and tried to help by changing all the linens including bedspreads. The smell was still there the second day but not nearly as strong which leads me to believe that they had sprayed the room with something that smelled like perfume and it was still in the draperies, walls, etc. Only two bathtowels were provided, and no handtowels or wash cloths. I would strongly suggest that they stop the perfume spray and provide at least one hand towel. ...read more
