    Pros +

    • This hotel delivered exactly what they said they would. Knowledge of either Basic French or German is essential. When they say you need to make a reservation for dinner they mean at breakfast. Rooms are clean, breakfast was delicious bread, cheese, cereal
    • Small, dated hotel but the rooms were scrupulously clean, the bathroom and facilities were excellent. Good, comfortable beds. Breakfast in the morning was very good.
    • Sweet hotel, nestled along a stream. Food was delicious and the waitress was super professional and friendly. Very clean too which is for me important. Easy parking. Best: location: from hotel, you have 2 castles in walking distance (1st in 1 km, 2nd in roughly 2-3km). Also, across the stream there is historical lyrics interesting casemates.

    Cons -

    • It was not what we expect as far as 24 hour service, but I¿m certain it is the norm for the area. Suggestion is to put not that reservation required by breakfast for dinner and that menu only have items that are expected available for the day. I¿d go back
    • There was nothing about my visit I did not like.
    • It was hard to contact anyone. I had no curtains meaning any time a car went past, the headlights lit up the room. The room was cold. I couldn't check out as nobody was around. Ended up just leaving euros in my room to pay for the meal from the night before and I have a feeling I will be double charged for that now

Great food and when the staff were around, they were great. I loved the cats

The hotel was one of the cheaper options in the area and from that point of view, very convenient as a stop on our way home. The surroundings were very beautiful, very accessible and beautiful hikes in the neigbourhood. If you like cats, the hotel is filled with it. the parking was big and convenient and felt safe for the night. the staff was friendly.

Don't expect much from the hotel (it is also very cheap, so in a way... you get what you pay for). The rooms are very basic (the beds are quit hard) and not very clean. The bathroom and toilet is shared for the floor and suite dated, old and also not super clean. Don't expect much communication with the owners, although friendly, the efficiency is key here ;)

Super nice people, nice and spacious rooms

Nothing, but do note that you can only have dinner at the hotel in the weekends

Easy to find and host greeted me with a hot coffee. Nice after a cold day. Also allowed me to put my bike in the shed. Budget hotel that good value.

A bit cold in the room. Glad I had 2 duvets to be under.

This was my third time at the Hotel du Windstein. It has so much charm, is super dog friendly and the food is exceptional. Staff are lovely and the prices very fair

This time the people in the room next to mine stayed up late and I noticed how thin the walls are...This is a cheap and cheerful place that others would describe as needing renovation, but I love it just as it is.

very friendly owner. good breakfast. very nice to dogs!

my room was very cold but in the morning i discovered that the heater was turned off. it would have been nice to arrive in a warm room. the location is quite far from the main highway but it’s surrounded by beautiful forests.

The location was beautiful, and the host was such a very nice & kind lady. She served us dinner, in the restaurant, which was really, really tasty. We had a pan, filled with delicious chicken, vegatables, and the fries were the most delicious fries that I've ever ate in my entire life.

The hotel room, which we stayed in, was quite simple. It wasn't big, but for one night and such a delicious dinner (& breakfast, the next day!), it was a good hotel to stay.

    7LukPosted on: 8-10-2023

Nice place. No nonsense feel. Room a bit basic and small. Good cook.

    8DzintarsPosted on: 8-9-2023

Clean and well maintained property. Staff is very helpful and comprehensive. Best blankets I've seen for this price level - goose down duvets.

Guests ha e to use restaurant back doors, not very comprehensive from the beginning. Some signs or explanatory information in property details may help.

For me, the location was excellent because I wanted to do a few walks in that area. The room was big, bed was good. I loved that there was a bath, I wanted to relax my muscles after 20km walking. Easy parking.

Restaurants are only open during lunch time, unless it's Friday/Saturday(/some on Sunday). Even the restaurant of the hotel wad closed. On a Wednesday it was very difficult to find food in the evening, luckily I found Pizza Toon's in Niederbronn-les-Bains. Also: breakfast was not included!

    8MarkPosted on: 5-29-2023

friendly, big clean room and comfortable beds

make sure you bring your own food just in case the restaurant not open as nearest supermarket is a few miles away

Double aspect windows were great once the sun went down Comfortable bedGood shower

Nothing but could do with a fan

Excellent cuisine. Dinner was exceptional, breakfast was good. Location is very nice.

Everything is old and not very well maintained. Bed small and synthetic sheets. It looks retro, but actually is as old.

Loved the food, proper home cooked affairStaff were lovely and accommodatingThe location is great

The ceiling in our room looked like it might come down soon

    Good Personal. Good Breakfast.

The Address from the hotel was not right on the Google Maps shown. We had to go on foot almost more than 2,5 km further. It was confusing, while we planned to get before 22:00 to the hotel. And didn't know, that we need more time because of the false Address. Luckily we called the owner, and he waited for us. We are still very thankful.
