Because of the rules of remodeling a historic building like the chateau, there was not an elevator. But the staff offered to carry our bags.

Incredible chateau, connected to the local Occitan culture of times past and present. Clean, wonderful decor and atmosphere. River is soothing and the grounds are beautiful.

Everything! You absolutely should stay here and enjoy the castle itself, its facilities, and the surrounding area. You are taken back in time.

The WiFi didn’t seem to work which was actually a blessing to disconnect and spend time with your fellow human

A problem occurred in the kitchen, so despite our approved reservation we could not dine in the restaurant. Instead we had to go out for diner in a cafetaria in town or a restaurant in a town further down the road. Now, unexpected disasters may happen to a restaurant. What annoyed me, however, was a group of people that was wining and dining loudly at the hotel on both evenings. Either your kitchen is closed to everyone, or you have to meet all reservations. Not just the happy few in a group.

No elevator so difficult with luggage and heat wave

Mattias was the most amazing help! He carried my heavy luggage from the car up the winding staircase and lifted it even on to the luggage rack in my amazing room. He came out to the pool when I couldn't unlock its gate. He was friendly and kind. I loved my room! I loved everything about it.

The scrambled eggs were cold in the breakfast. I wish they would have had tablecloths on the outside tables and had them set up for breakfast instead of just inside.

Internet connection didn’t work. I didn’t twig that breakfast was in addition to the room.

The room, three castle, the staff were all fantastic! An exceptional place to stay. We would have loved miss time. The staff were super helpful and accommodating, helping us with whatever we needed.

I was double charged. I had already paid on Booking.com and when we checked out, I was asked to pay again. I did so, because I thought my wife had booked the room, but I looked later and it was me. I had a receipt. Now, I have two receipts for the same stay. I would like to be refunded. Thanks.

Breakfast was great. Lots of choices. Room was perfect. Nice view from our window and we can hear the river in the night.

We were not aware that there was a pool on the premises. It may be helpful that the staff in the restaurant know how to communicate in English and the menu items translated in English.

It well preserved and maintained and has a medieval style .The dinner and a breakfast were very good.

The room is extremely small and AC wasn’t working properly

My only gripe, which is a small one is that they had no kettle in the room.

Staying at Château Des Ducs De Joyeuse was truly a unique experience! This luxury hotel beautifully blends its medieval and Renaissance influences with contemporary amenities. We especially enjoyed dining at the gourmet restaurant, La Cour des Ducs, which added to the charm of our stay. Everything about this place was enchanting, and we loved every moment there! Highly recommended for anyone seeking something special.

I loved the outdoor area, the grounds and the pool were exceptional.

I did not like the rooms, they were dated and did not offer tea or coffee making facilities, making it difficult as the towns shops are closed often and if you don’t have a vehicle, you are left with no choice but to taxi.

stupendously poor value for money

the room booked was described as a suite. It was a single room with an en suite bathroom and a double bed and something akin to a short wooden dog bed totally unsuitable to a grown man staying with his brother in an extremely expensive hotel which one would have expected at least somewhere to sleep. I found my stay almost impossible.Also when one night we missed ordering dinner we were refused food. I had to go and beg food from a local resident. Upon my return I was offered cheese ! no room service at all and the dinner menu never changes (in the four days we stayed) so the choices were very limited

The upgrade was appreciated but the aircon is not effective in the large room to which we were upgraded. (heritage restrictions on mounting of aircon units).Errors in dining bill. Always good to check these things. Mistakes happen but can be a nasty surprise.
