Location is great. Area felt safe. Hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. I like that the hotel has an older feel with a comfortable lobby including comfy sofas and chairs. I found the winding way to the elevator on my side of building to be interesting with local artwork on the brick walls. The room was a good size with vintage desk and drawers. The bed was comfortable and ceiling fan was perfect for October. This premium Queen room has two windows over Lafayette St so there was something to see when open. Coffee was fine in a.m. especially sitting in lobby or waiting for an Uber. Several wooden benches outside too.Compere Lapin restaurant was great and not to be missed. I also got a Sazerac from Michael, the bartender. A good nightcap. Peche Seafood restaurant is nearby (5 min walk). It is also great. Both were active with lively crowds.A big thank you to the night staff when I couldn't open my safe with items I needed for an early flight home. The Engineer arrived within 5 minutes to open it. Whew!
Building is old so this is not your chain hotel and I knew that.Room floor does squeak but it did not bother me.There is an Ohm Lounge on Lafayette and they partied until 2:30AM except on Sunday. Did not bother me much but it's loud.Bathroom is not great.1. WC on door is funny but Commode Seat is so low you need a crane to stand up. These should be outlawed.2. Shower is old. Pressure could be better. Head was dirty, looked like it was growing something and never cleaned.3. Paint was peeling in big pieces from Shower floor. Stone underneath it was better.4. Towels were not compatible with price for room. Not paper towels but needs improvement.

The hotel itself in gorgeous and very stylish.
Our room wasn’t ready at the check in time, but they said they’d wave the amenities fees and would text us when it was ready. We finally just went back to the hotel at 8:00-ish after no text and no one answering the phone at the front desk. There were nice staff, but the bartender acted annoyed that we were there and very short with us despite my efforts to try to engage in cordial conversation with her. In the morning they asked how everything was and I mentioned the no notice of our room being ready and NO COFFEE pot in the room. The attendant attempted to tell me other hotels don’t have coffee rooms if they had a coffee bar like the Marriott. I find that really hard to believe. I cancelled the stay we had for our return overnight because of all of the above.

Great place and centrally located. The hotel has a lot of charm, the staff is friendly, and the rooms are clean.
The rooms are a bit on the small side, and they don't service them every day. Also, there is an extra fee for the amenity that was not included in the original price.

Until the old 77, we have always stayed somewhere different. This is the first time we’ve stayed at the same place twice. The lobby and elevators greet you with an amazing scent. Staff is very friendly. Location is great.
Nothing we didn’t like about it
