Burbaums Restaurant Hotel

I had a decent experience at this hotel, but there were a few downsides. The room I stayed in was located in the attic and was quite small, which might be inconvenient for those who need more space. Another issue was adjusting the hot water, as it took some time to reach the desired temperature.On the positive side, the room was clean, and the staff was friendly. Additionally, the hotel has a good location, making it convenient for exploring the area.Overall, it’s a reasonable choice for a short stay, but there are a few aspects that could be improved.

We were with persons from different families, we were in a very big, but real simple apartment, we all had 4 spacy, but very simple rooms.

On the last morning, the lock of the main door to the apartment got jammed (with us locked inside), it took us 10 minutes with lots of trying to finally get it open. And btw, the 24/7 hotel emergency number was not being served. The house lady (who did not speak much German), finally came to the apartment, and despite multiple statements to not lock the door again, the first things she wanted to do/try, is lock us back up into the apartment.

Everything is good except church bells.

Church bells ring every 15 minutes, more or less impossible to sleep if you're not used to this.

Krups coffee machine in room, quality television program offering, close to other business for meals and drinks.

Uncomfortable bed that kept collapsing making sleep difficult and continually interrupted. Church bells next door rang at all hours of the day and night.

Booking made with a check in time of 9-10pm, the hotel advertises a checkin of upto 11pm.Arrived at 9.45pm to find the hotel closed and I was no able to reach them on the phone. I had to drive to another town and find another hotel late at night. I emailed to ask for a refund but had no response!

Staff was kind and helpfull.Nice restaurant with fire place.

Parking place is somewhat unhandy in garage boxes, or outside before them when full.There is no big parking place, but that has probably to do with the location in town center and nearby a big church.

Very clean rooms equipped with coffee machine and a bottle of sparkling water each day. The staff where super friendly and kind and breakfast was simple yet ample. The hotel is also a restaurant, which serves delicious food in the evening.

No mini fridge in my room and shower head in need of descaling or replacing.

Even though the conversation with staff was limited by the language barrier ( germans are well known for their pride in speaking ONLY their language), staff came out as suuper friendly. Even though we haven't requested it, they went extra mile and offered a baby cot when they saw we booked for 2 adults and 1 baby. That shows deep care over the needs (potential) of their guests. Room was ULTRA MODERN with LED bathroom mirror, plenty lighting fixtures for everyone's tastes (bright/dimm/whatever), everything finished to hight stsndards.

The SMELL coming from the kitchen. It was awfully GOOOOOD!!!! I was starving just from feeling how GOOD it was ??? Can't find something we didn't liked, maybe the location, as it's 25-30min drive north of Dortmund, but that's expected when you search and see the location.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I spent little time at the hotel during the day, but the lady who served breakfast was amazing. Although she spoke little English, and myself little German, I enjoyed our interactions. She made me feel at home every morning with a welcoming smile and some kindly words. The breakfast itself was excellent, with a fine presentation of meats, cheese, fish, eggs and lovely fresh bread rolls.My room was basic but clean and spacious. There was a large TV, coffee making facilities and mineral water provided.There were a few dedicated parking places at the rear of the hotel and there was always a spot for my hire car.The location is great for access to the centre of Waltrop which is a lovely little place, and people were friendly wherever I visited. There are good public transport links as well to nearby Dortmund and beyond.

The chef/owner was on holiday, so other than breakfast the restaurant was closed all week. Whilst I did not mind venturing out to find somewhere to eat each night I would have liked to enjoy a meal there. I was also not informed this would be the case.There was a heatwave during my stay, and there was no air-conditioning. Although the room was provided with a small fan it did get a little uncomfortable. The facilities mentioned a fridge and there wasn't one in the room, I didn't query it but if there was access to one elsewhere then it was not obvious.

Very nice place in great location.Rooms are spacious , comfy and very clean.Staff very friendly and helpful.Very big Thank you to the lady at reception on our check in and especially to the lady who assisted us with our breakfast on 23/08 for her kindness and service.Breakfast - very good.Great place to stay . I would definitely recommend.We will be definitely back.

we absolutely loved it there, was no problem to have our travel cot for our baby as bedroom was big enough to do so. shower easy to use so bath time was comfortable as well. views around the hotel are cute and we loved our morning walk. definitely recommended and we will be back (hopefully)

Not good at all. Noisy, dirty, there's a bad smell.

Less smell, must be much more clean. Less noisy.

The owner of the hotel was very friendly, polite and nice, greeted us on the doorstep and showed us around. Even the building is quite old the room interior is modern, comfortable and very convenient. The hotel itself is beautifully located next to the old church and fountain, very close to local shops. The hotel is pet friendly which is a huge bonus for us. We cannot fault the hotel, our stay was short but perfect (only one night unfortunately); definitely would recommend and definitely would come back if we are in the neck of the woods next time.

The room was very modern and very clean. It is like a modern day hotel room wrapped in a charming old building.
