This rural apartment home has the perfect amount of remoteness. Perched on a sunny hilltop where you can view valleys and mountains, including the snow-covered Picos on a clear day, it's only five minutes from Asturias's cider capital, Villaviciosa. The host upgraded us to a spacious two-bedroom with lots of light, a large living/dining room, and a small but modern kitchen. There's a balcony and patio where you can sun yourself and enjoy wine and the wonderful Asturian cheeses. You can walk out the door and enjoy lovely walks into the tiny village and down the many farm roads, or drive 20 minutes to fantastic hikes along the coast or through the countryside. The host's amiable father came every day to feed his sheep, make sure all was functioning well, and answer our many questions. He also provided us with tips on restaurants and hikes. Excellent Wifi! No problems with Zooming or streaming. All in all, I highly recommend this stay if you want to get away from it all but be near enough to civilization to enjoy the area's offerings.

Better bread and cutting knives in the kitchen and an extension cord would be great additions. The shower is tiny but has plenty of space once you are in—but if you are very large you'll find it difficult.
