Vale do Gaio Hotel

The location is great for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle. The hotel is great, modern, very comfortable, and the different spaces are wonderful. The breakfast is really good.

The pool could be cleaned. The restaurant is a bit expensive.

The location is spectacular, on the edge of the backwaters of the Vale do Gaio dam. No sounds except those of nature.The services are great, and the warmth of the place is real. The food i the restaurant is delicious and has a lot of offering. The host of the hotel is the epitome of graciousness, which is embodied in all the team. Well done!!

Wonderful place, it rained almost everyday, but it is a very comfortable place and the owner, Vasco, makes you feel at home.

The breakfast was good, with variety and the products were fresh. The location was perfect: beautiful and peaceful.

The rooms are very expensive. They are very simple, the furniture is of poor quality as well as the decoration. The internet connection is weak and the TV frequently goes down.

Amazing property in a unique location. A perfect combination of eclectic rooms with modern and tranquille bedrooms. The views are amazing, watching the stars is amazing, the food is amazing and we loved using the pool.

Because of the remote location I liked that we were only there for a day, but if you're looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city this is the place!

The activities,the location,the peace

Beautiful location. Perfect for a couple or group of friends. Clean rooms with a nice balcony with view. Zero noise!! Very naïf and natural social area including swimming pool.

I loved everything about the place itself - truly magical surroundings near the lake. Beautiful views with birds chirping allowing you to feel the peace and calm of the surrounding nature. The pool is lovely, the cabanas are awesome for a nap, and there’s Kayaks to use for the river - awesome activity to calm down.

The location is excellent, and the hotel space is fantastic!!! The view is beautiful, and thanks to the concept, tranquility prevails, making the environment very calm and relaxing!The rooms are in great condition; we stayed in one with a view of the dam!The staff is very friendly, attentive, and practical (e.g., we wanted a non-alcoholic cocktail, which wasn't on the menu, but the waiter improvised. He used fresh mint, picked directly from the garden at the entrance).

The restaurant prices were disproportionate to the portion sizes, although the food was generally tasty. For less than half the cost, we had traditional Alentejo cuisine in the village of Torrão.

The room was nice and clean, also the location is quite peaceful. Wine selection was ok.

Untrained and unpleasant staff. Nobody was at the reception or the bar for most of the day. Nobody to give pool towels or to serve a cocktail. Also the cocktails were awful (we grabbed to hendricks and they were served with rotten lemon slices).Breakfast didn't have plates for most of the service and there was always lacking something (eggs or bacon or cheese or beans) and the whole selection of food lacked quality and atention. It took ages for our dinner to be served, portions were small and food lack overall quality (for example the obviously instant mashed potatoes), specially given the price. Unfortunately what could have been an amazing stay at a pictoresc location was blurred by the appalling service.

Beautiful, calm surroundings, and spacious, well-equipped rooms offered the best setting for a long weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The view from our room was directly over the lake, providing the perfect backdrop to wake up to. The hotel has a restaurant that offers great breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu is short, focusing on local specialities, served in the most romantic garden. We went canoeing on the lake, which was a great experience, as there’s only nature around with no human intervention.

The restaurant has excellent food but the last night of our stay it was busy and the kitchen & staff seemed to have been overwhelmed because it took forever to be able to order, and even longer to actually get the food. We arrived to the restaurant at 20h30 and only got food at 22h30, at a point where we were no longer hungry and wanted to go to bed. We complained and they offered starters and dessert free of charge. We didn't get dessert because once the food came, it was really good and a lot, so we were no longer hungry. However, when we checked out the next day, we did notice the starters on the bill after all. The owner of the hotel is very welcoming and friendly, I would definitely return. But he was not involved in the operations of the restaurant at night and I bet these issues wouldn't have happened if he was aware of the situation. Just my two cents. I'd still recommend it because the food was excellent. Just make sure you don't enter the restaurant hungry, and can wait a while.

The food, the environment, the quietness, a very nice staff

Shortage of staff - very nice staff but very disorganized and a bit lost. Had to wait 40min for 2 fried eggs and an orange juice. By the time we arrived to breakfast the croissants were finished, we asked for one which never came.

Beautiful setting on a dam, with soulful decor and friendly staff and owners.And the two lovely dogs was also a plus!

Restaurant was slightly expensive for what was offered.

The stunning surroundings, how quiet it is: you only hear birds and fish jumping in the water. The location is a magical mix of sky blue with trees green all reflected in the dam water mirror. Really great place for a city getaway and a deep technology detox

A very beautiful hotel in a tranquil location. Beautifully stylish, inside and out. Very good restaurant. Super clean, super comfortable room and bed. Exquisite public areas. Expensive but well worth the splurge!!

Coffee maker in room would be nice.

Stayed one night, wished I had booked a week! First time in years I experienced the feeling of being totally relaxed/chilled. Evening meal and breakfast totally amazing. Ideal stopover between Lisbon and Faro. 1000% recommend.

Location right on the Dam. Excelent views to a perfect scenery.The hotel is cozy, with friendly staff, free bicicles and cannoes. But the main point is serenity, and as the owner says, we can ear the silence

Stunning location, very beautiful and peaceful. The hotel is vey comfortable and well laid out with lovely views of the reservoir valley. The food (and wine) was excellent and the proprietor is great craic;)

The outside needs more care
