Cons -

• We took a chance on this property as it was new to booking.com. The score of 10/10, as stated, is based on external reviews. We found lots of positive feedback online from the letting agents own site but sadly, I can only assume, having seen the property now that these reviews are cherry picked and not truly representative. The house itself is very tired and poorly maintained. The ceiling and floor fans are inadequate. The electrical wiring is very old, some switches don't work and others are taped over for reasons unknown. The bedding was threadbare and stained. The pillows were covered in brown/yellow stains from use. The toilet bowl was stained brown. The inside of the kitchen cupboards smelled damp. The shutters were old, rusty and ineffective. We were so disappointed as this was the final stay for us in Belize as part of our honeymoon following stays in San Pedro and Hopkins. We were attracted by the privacy and seclusion that Oceans Edge offered. When we left the property as we felt unable to stay there we informed the guest liaison who we had been communicating with. She showed absolutely no interest in the fact that we were leaving almost immediately and had had to find ourselves alternative accommodation at short notice. She asked no questions about the problems we had and merely sent a curt one line text back. I am hoping this review will ensure that the 10/10 score is amended to something more reflective of the standard of the property so that future booking.com customers don't experience the disappointment we did.
