- An amazing & beautiful hotel, restored with care and attention to detail, giving you a modern hotel with original charm.Staff were lovely, very friendly! Dinner (tasting menu) was extensive! lots of extra courses included & every wine was perfect. Room was fabulous and views exceptional. Beds & pillows very comfortable, all extras allowed for in your room...from shampoo to shoe cloth. Breakfast of fresh baked croissants & pastries, with cold plate selection. Grounds all kept to same standard as hotel, all 100%
- Converted old monastery into a 10 room hotel, large rooms, views on the fields, very quiet and ample
- This place is absolutely amazing. A 1000 year-old monastery transformed into a luxury boutique hotel. This is our second time there, and we’re in love. The owners are wonderful and we always feel so welcome there. This time, for my mother’s 70th birthday, we decided to also book their fine dining restaurant “La Table”, by chef Jean-Paul Tossens. What an incredible experience this was. This restaurant really deserves a star ⭐️ I would absolutely recommend to anyone traveling to the South West of France to make it a priority. You will not regret it. If you’re familiar with the term “surprise and delight”… it is it in the very shape and form.
Cons -
- Breakfast was great for myself & my friend (female) but we did mention our partners (male) may not be as satisfied with only the option of pastries. Maybe a choice other than breads, but that may be expected more for a typical Englishman..
- Everything was perfect.
- Bedroom was a little too sparse in presentation but in keeping with the property’s monastic heritage

Everything was perfect.
Food was excellent Location was very rural with great views over the countrysideUnique property lovingly restored and beautifully presented
Bedroom was a little too sparse in presentation but in keeping with the property’s monastic heritage
Beautifully restored monastery. Super views and lovely pool. Very relaxing. Nice size rooms. Great massage at the spa.
Felt like the hotel was shut down for the season (it was end of August so not exactly “out of season”. Very little staff or services. Had to keep going to look for people. Bistro was closed and could only use “Gastro” restaurant which we were not in mood for. Breakfast only available from 0830. Not big issues but not quite 4* service.
Beautiful, unique building with large, clean bedrooms.Very comfy bed.Nice pool that was very quiet.Polite staff.Terrace restaurant was always very busy at lunch, so I presume it is good although we didn't eat there.
Restaurants don't cater for Vegans.Aircon is on a central system so you can't control the temperature in your room.Reception isn't manned so you need to be prepared to wait if you have questions/need assistance. No fridge/minibar but you do get water in room.
Absolutely beautiful building and grounds.
Very bare roomsNo fridge, not user friendly really. Staff were really rude. They didn’t want you to have anything that wasn’t from the hotel. So you couldn’t buy your own wine even to have in your room because they wouldn’t give you ice or glasses or cork screw. You could use the coffee machine but they would t provide milk unless you paid for breakfast. But you couldn’t use your own milk because you didn’t have a fridge to keep it in.
The views, the building and surrounding areas are stunning and the decor & rooms certainly have the wow factor-very clean property and gorgeous feel with the art work! The (very cold) pool was cleaned every day and Ana (who cleaned the pool and offered us spa treatments) was very warm, polite, friendly which felt welcoming and kind to speak with her. When we arrived at 1pm, we were told check in 4pm however after showing the staff my messages with the hotel on booking.com that said we could check in at 1pm, the staff member assured us and our room was ready. We had a double room And our messages with the hotel confirmed a twin room, the staff advised this was not mentioned but i showed the messages and they split our bed into a twin which was highly appreciated, the lady who did this was so kind and we tried to speak over translate so we had a great first impression at this point for accommodating us so quickly from this error. The gorgeous rooms have towels, dressing gowns and facilities for the (powerful) shower which was great and two good sized wardrobes with a safe (which we did not need to use). The beds were super comfortable and soft and high quality with usb plugs next to each side of the bed. A communal Coffee machine and kettle was on the hallway which was a great touch so we could collect our own as we please however the cups and teabags were not replenished until asked and when we asked for milk the staff refused to give us any and exclaimed we should have breakfast in the hotel if we want milk with our coffee. We had no idea what the breakfast menu was or what cost so we avoided that for our full stay. We had heard from other guests in the hotel that it was limited breakfast items and the trout from the evening bistro menu was served which didnt appeal.
The limited menus and food choices weren't explained or offered clearly. The dishes served in the evening bistro are part of a fine dining tasting menu (the food was delicious but the explanation and set up was poor- we also waited a long time in between courses which were small and we were not told was the food entailed)- we had allergens and pregnant women at our table but the staff did not give anymore detailOr reassurance when we had mentioned. The Wine choices were also not explained to us but tasted beautiful. The communication from the staff in the hotel felt extremely hostile with any requests or questions asked which in turn gave us an unwelcome feel whilst staying here. The rooms would be better if they include a fridge as any hotel offering limited foods and resource should always expect their guests to want to provide their own food and drinks in their rooms for common preference or allergens. We also spent a lot of money in the hotel restaurant and bought wine from the hotel even though we had our own. We asked for ice bucket and glasses which were appreciated and then when asked for a cork screw the staff seemed to have a more negative attitude towards us.We were there for a wedding and our bridal party were told to be quiet as the restaurant guests took priority. It was a momentous special occasion and yet it seemed that the fine dining guests were more important to the staff. One guest had paid for a room and did not use it and 3 set of guests left a day early because of the communication from the staff (especially the chef shouting and swearing at one point when the breakfast options were being questioned).I hope this review encourages staff members of a family run establishment to be more kind and understanding towards their paying guests with various needs as everyone is different and nobody is more important than the next guest, or restaurant guest for that matter.
Beautifully restored Monastery Hotel, stunning location and family run business - very welcoming. All the meals were exceptional. A real treat. We are on a cycling tour - the lane around we’re very quiet and we had a lovely ride between chateaus and small villages.
Both restaurants were excellent .The room with personal Hammam was convenient .Friendly and attentive staff.Really peaceful atmosphere .
It’s a shame the swimming pool was unusable during our stay, we were looking forward to that.Air conditioning wasn’t easy to use, maybe they should look into that. The tv channels were freezing every so minutes , probably a network thing. No fridge in the room, that was really inconvenient especially since we had some stuff that needed refrigeration.
Breakfast was superb with fresh baked croissants made by the chef's daughter who is a certified baker. My wife and I took a cooking lesson with the chef/hotel director. The original monastery was built in the 11th century and sections of the original building and adjacent chapel/church remain. Restaurant is of Michelin star quality with an incredible tasting menu.
Swimming pool could have been cleaner. Staff forgot to give us the hotel entry code for which the director severely apologized. There is not much to do locally in way of activities so you are "lost" without a car.
Breakfast was fine - good coffee and pastries and nice room
The building is amazing and the rooms and setting was great. really interesting Plaimant cooperative just round the corner who also own the building.
booking.com page for the hotel didn’t state they were not open for food on the Monday and the spa was not open the Monday or Tuesday. We were only informed a week before the stay and this was after the free cancellation had past. tphe staff did put on a salad for us despite being closed which was very nice of them but quite frustrating to stay at somewhere where the food and spa are one of the main attractions and not have access to either.
beautiful building and exceptional food.staff amazing
lovely historical property Ideally placed to tour Gascony and Pau food exceptional
would benefit with tea/ coffee making facilities in the rooms
The staff was amazing. Late Dinner and Check in went flawless, fastest no hassle check in ever. Beds were super comfortable and dinner was amazing. Location is gorgeous and the monastery is really beautiful.
location, food, staff
Amazing....stunning renovated building with carefully thought-out positioning and decor. Béatrice et Jean-Paul were exceptional hosts, accommodating our every need. The dining on the terrace is divine and the cuisine... definitely Michelin star. We had a wonderful whirlwind stay and hope to visit again!
Welcome, location, breakfast, and dinner experience
Excellent breakfast
We requested a twin room as our adult children were sharing a room. It was a double room - when we asked if it could be changed the member of staff said it could not be done until the next day. We asked if they had spare sheets and we could do it but we’re told no - it was too much of a process. All it needed were the beds separating and remaking which we would have been happy to do. The next day ( after we had separated the beds and used the bottom sheet folded over for one bed and the duvet cover folded over for the other bed) the beds were made up but one still without a top sheet. They only made them up properly for the third night.
