    Pros +

    • It’s a beautiful property, right by the lake. The staff is very helpful and there are lots of activities around the hotel.
    • It seems this hotel is like fine wine: it gets better with age. This is likely due to the efforts of the GM who tirelessly walks around the property, greeting guests and making sure all is going well. I was pleasantly surprised there were even oysters on the menu at the summer cafe! What a treat.
    • It’s our second time staying in Rixos, we absolutely love this hotel! The location is just beautiful, big territory near the lake. There are lots of activities for everyone - pool, beach, bikes, amazing kids club for children. We particularly loved the cycling track that goes through the pine forest, very scenic! We stayed in junior suite - the room is very spacious, I loved it. Good choice of dining options - the restaurant on the lake was our favorite, to have dinner and watch the sunset. Big thank you to the staff for making our stay enjoyable. We will be back!

    Cons -

    • Nothing, everything was great.
    • Nothing to say here.
    • Just one minor thing - there should be at least one person who speaks English in room service team. One of our guests didn’t speak Russian and she struggled to order food over the phone.

+ It was a pleasant stay for us, everything was working and available. Amazing programme for kids in kids club, big spa and swimming pool. Good food in outdoor restaurant, big and clean room and friendly staff everywhere, very good security, looked well when kids were around even a guard in a kids room! Which is great. - wine is overpriced, they allow adults in tiny kids pool, water in the pool was cold, but temperature shown was 29 degrees of the water, teppanyaki is not worth it, do not order.

Very comfortable room with great breakfast buffet and nice outdoor seating overlooking grounds. A few good restaurants on site. Really great location with hotel's own quiet breaches for swimming and relaxing on the lake, plus paddle boards and boats, plus good indoor swimming pool. The location with its own lakeshore was very nice and relaxing on the lake!

The furniture and equipment in the rooms may need to be revamped.

Very polite and friendly staff! Great location, beautiful and comfortable for walking territory, excellent cuisine, and the hotel room is large and comfortable

Not a very comfortable check-in time, from 15:00, I would like it to be a little earlier

Loved the comfort and quiet of the suite. Also loved the food at the summer Cafe and sunset terrace.

Because of a violent thunderstorm, my room was flooded. No fault of the hotel.

Nice rooms, lovely decor throughout hotel with attractive design; great breakfast buffet with nice outdoor seating overlooking grounds; good restaurants on site; good bars on site; great location with hotel's own quiet breaches for swimming and relaxing on the lake, plus paddle boards and boats; nice bar at the beach; good indoor swimming pool. The location with its own lakeshore was very nice and allowed us to relax on the lake in more quiet and comfort than in places in town or with public beaches, away from the crowds at Borovoe itself. However, also easy to drive to and from other places around the two lakes.

Sometimes the breakfast buffet food was inconsistent.

    9cathiebuPosted on: 6-30-2024

After my first night, there was a violent thunderstorm that resulted in my room being partially flooded, so I had to change rooms as repairs were going to last half a day. The room switch and subsequent communication between reception and their manager was below standards for a hotel of this standing. I had to go to reception to find out what was going to happen and when. The issue was eventually solved, but I wasted 40-60 minutes of my vacation time just waiting around for someone to communicate with me. My new room was identical to the first minus the view of the gorgeous sunset I had in the first room. As compensation for all the waiting, I was granted a free dinner in a location of my choice, but only after I mentioned that it would be good customer service practice for the hotel to make a gesture for the inconvenience encountered, and only after I declined the free dinner at the buffet (this hotel has an all inclusive rate which consists in having all meals at the buffet. If I had wanted to have meals at the buffet, I would have opted for this, but this is just not what I wanted to do.)The hotel is comfortable, clean, and my room was quiet. I had awesome food at 3 locations: the Summer cafe (where I must commend Umida's impeccable service and great English skills), the Chalet, and the Sunset Terrace. Here, I must also commend the staff in all locations including the spa and the beach. The weather cooperated and the beach was delightful. Overall I left refreshed and stocked up with enough vitamin D to last me half the harsh winter in Astana!

The way the room change was handled was terrible. Staff needs more training to communicate updates to guests promptly. Service is at times not 5 star quality, undoubtedly due to some language barriers (it is difficult to find staff members fluent enough in English and I don't speak fluent Russian and Kazakh), but also due to lack of proper training on how to handle difficult and unpredictable situations appropriately (e.g., offering some sort of compensation to the guest). However, I would like to take the opportunity to thank the hotel GM, Jesper Francl, who seems to be everywhere on the property at all times! He personally made sure everything was okay with my new room and came to check on me several times without ever being intrusive.

Pretty big territory, inside and outside, with a few restaurants and a bar. The hotel itself looks great with big open spaces and luxurious decorations and the outside hosts a lot of additional attractions like a jumping trampoline, tennis courts, mini-golf (only one lane), spa compexes and a pier with catamarans, kayaks and jet skis. There are hiking routes and bicycle lanes running around all the Borovoe.

We were thinking about visiting the Casino but the staff seemed pretty unfriendly. You expect the attitude like "welcome, dear guests, let me show you what we have to offer", not "who are you and what are you doing here?". The entertainment program had some cuts as a reason of unexpectedly bad weather during out stay and, therefore, fewer guests than usual. Totally understandable.

The advantages of this hotel are location, nature and entertainment within walking distance. The hotel is quite cozy, interesting interior, comfortable rooms.

Very terrible service. During the check-in, only one girl worked at the reception, there were many guests, some had non-standard questions, which led to a queue and, in general, the check-in process was quite long. The girls from the "Guest relation" department are very poorly informed about the locations near the hotel and even what is happening on the territory of the hotel, the attitude towards the guests is very weak and not friendly, I received the answer "I don't know" (!) to my questions which is very strange why they work there if the guests need to search for information themselves.

    9ShireenPosted on: 10-25-2023

The staff were friendly. The pool and steam room and sauna

I was charged a tourist fee and my colleagues were not charged the fee as we are all here on a work visa. Furthermore there was no single person rates. I paid the same amount as my colleagues who shared with their spouses. This is discrimination against single people. The breakfast menu did not cater for different cultures. There was no lamb or chicken as I don't eat beef. I did not get value for my money .

The staff is awesome, super helpful and very pleasant. I would like to specially acknowledge Vladislas (at the Chalet), Temirlan and Balnur (at the Summer cafe), Zhyldyzay and Alinur (who helped with my room), and Yerlan and Alexei at the front desk for their efforts in making my stay more pleasant. It is very much appreciated! The location of the hotel is optimal, with a sandy beach by Lake Shchuchie. It also has a nice spa, and some delicious food!

I specifically requested a quiet room (if possible) and upon check-in was told I was given a very quiet room. That room ended up being above the terrace bar where there is live music from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM some nights and the closest to the elevators which meant that I had all the "elevator traffic" walking by multiple times a day and night. That room also has the disadvantage of the cooking smells from the Olivio restaurant, especially in the mornings. For the record that is room 502 (I would avoid...)The 2nd night I was moved to another room that ended up being just on the other side of the terrace bar... Also because it was very windy, the cables that tether the canopy above the bar creaked all night (not the hotel's fault but very annoying.) I was told it is best to avoid upper floors on that side of the lake when it is windy as the cables are much closer to the room windows. Duly noted!
