This northern Espoo spa hotel is 20 minutes' drive away form central Helsinki and Helsinki-Vantaa airport. Guests have free access to a sauna, steam bath, indoor swimming pool and gym. WiFi access and private parking are also free. A flat-screen TV, bathrobes and a hairdryer are offered in all rooms at Backbyn Kartano. Each room also has modern furnishings, a desk and bathroom with a shower. On-site dining includes a daily breakfast buffet, lunch buffet and à la carte dinner menu on Fridays and Saturdays. Bookable massages and other spa treatments are available at Backbyn Kartano. There are several hiking trails in the area, and Nordic walking sticks and bicycles are available free of charge. Area activities include swimming in Lake Myllyjärvi, 0.6 mi away, and Master Golf Club, less than 1.9 mi from the hotel. Central Espoo is about 15 minutes’ drive away. Pros +
- Fine location., surrounded by nature. Good breakfast. The manor offers a tasty evening meal and plenty of ambience. The comfortable room is reasonably priced.
- The room was comfortable and the facilities were clean. Spa was quiet. Breakfast was nice with a few options available. Bike hire was great and receptionists were friendly and helpful.
- The room was really nice and the restaurant was delicious! The spa is very nice too. It was overall a great experience, I recommend it!
Cons -
- Wine at 24 euros a glass is a bit excessive. The frisbee golf course has hacked the nearby woods and destroyed some of the restful calm.
- No spa treatments were available and we were told you had to book in advance. Be aware of this if you would like a massage or something. The restaurant at night was a disappointment and we had to drive to Espoo for a decent meal.
