Pros +
- Cosy, clean room. New owners (very nice people), just started, and in the process of "things to be done". Would stay here again when pub and restaurant is up and running.
- Great location, extremely helpful staff and spacious, well-equipped heritage room.
- The check-in process went smoothly, the room is not cramped with a firm but comfy king size bed. The bathroom was also roomy with lots of room in the shower. It had a tiny outside sitting area on the road side which was a bit noisy due to the traffic, however the doors cut out most of the noise when inside.
Cons -
- The outside chairs were threadbare and need replacing, and a few succulents between the units would have made the outside area delightful to sit with a cuppa or wine.
- Towels needed an update but no big deal
- Water pressure in the shower

This was a fantastic place to stay overnight when we visited York to see a play. Very happy with our room - super comfortable and easy to access with parking right outside.

Excellent location, very friendly and helpful reception. Very interesting building.
Water pressure in the shower
Great location and comfortable rooms
Shame the restaurant and bar isn’t open
Centrally located with good off street parking. Room was spacious, clean and quiet (there, was hardly anyone else there). I stayed in the Terrace Rooms.
The shower stayed warm for approximately 5 mins. It was cold the rest of the time.
Bed was very comfy, large room and spacious bathroom.
There was no window to open - it got quite stuffy.
We stayed in the Lord Forrest Suite which was very spacious! Lovely heritage room. Clean and comfortable. We were able to check in early and shown to our room which was nice. If we ever find ourselves back in York we would definitely stay here again
Location, lovely room and comfortable bed. Staff very helpful and friendly
We spent just one night at the York Palace, and were delighted with the accommodation. Nola and Richard were warm, friendly and extremely helpful hosts - it was a pleasure to meet them. We stayed in one of the heritage rooms and it was spacious, clean and very comfortable, with a lovely balcony looking out into the town. We would have been very happy to stay longer, and York is a charming little town, with lots to see and explore.
Great hostess with the mostess!Location, giant beds so comfy, verandahs to while away an afternoon on.Would highly recommend as the rooms are beautifully decorated making it feel very special.
Everything was clean, bed was comfortable, bathroom was large, enough seating areas, fridge, kettle. Lock box for key. Parking good just outside the unit. Staff kept in touch re how to access unit but you dont have physical contact with anyone
All was good
It was very handy to food establishments, walking distance. Clean, tidy, pretty quiet. There was no breakfast available but plenty of cafes just down the road, although we catered for ourselves.
Although there was a large shower head, it was up so high that there wasn't much pressure of water coming through, a number of holes were blocked in it and after my partners' relatively short hot shower, the hot ran out just after I got in, resulting in a cold shower for me. I tried again next morning but the hot only lasted about a minute (not long enough for washing hair). I rang both numbers listed on the back of the door but no answer. As we were leaving, we told the cleaner, she passed on the info to the owner who messaged me saying he'd tested it and there was hot water. I responded that yes there was but only for a minute and that it seemed blocked. He was apologetic and said he'd investigate it further and fix any problems - he was pleased I let him know. Although the shower was a bit of a downer, the rest of the stay was good.
Not much.
We were in a unit out the back among a row of units with a lot of tradespeople staying in the same row. We booked a stately old hotel and were shoved in a row of ‘rooms’. Outside was an outdoor setting which was so filthy we had to ask for it to be wiped down (we had nothing to do it with ourselves). However, between each unit there is no division externally so that wasn’t going to work because the tradies congregated outside and were smoking. Plus there was no privacy. I think it may be a pet friendly venue too because there was a lot of dog poo in the sand between our unit and next door. Also I contacted the venue twice prior to our checkin and didn’t get a response. There was no wifi where we were either.

We were in town for a wedding, and after having our original planned accommodation cancelled, we booked at The York Palace. I'm so glad it turned out this way as our stay was fantastic. Our room was incredibly comfortable and had more amenities than we needed. Saul was willing to accommodate our needs, and we were welcomed by Courtney. Both were lovely. I would rebook there again in a heartbeat and will do if the need ever arises.
Location and value for money.Key entry good idea.Friendly.
Very good
Did not receive wifi password on arrival. Front hotel closed and was difficult to find someone to check in. However I had been sent an email prior that I had not yet seen
The location was perfect and parking directly out side the room.
The restaurant was closed due to staffing issues beyond the owners control.
