Pros +
- Very beautiful resort and peaceful.
- The location is the best. The hiking trails are good.
- Excellent location with spectacular views and good access to hiking. The resort has lots of activities and delicious meal offerings at the restaurant. The staff worked hard to keep the facilities and grounds neat and make our visit enjoyable.
Cons -
- The was a slight confusion. When we bought drinks we were told that we had in my mind I thought the was a certain portion money kept aside for drinks from what we originally paid. Only to find out that we had to pay duriing check out. And also is it a norm that during dinner the is no juice available one needs to buy.
- The place is tired and very very old. It doesn't need a revamp - it needs an overhaul. Complete breakdown of the development and a new modern hotel needs to be put up. Even the staff complained that the facility doesn't cater for disabled. Its also not designed for porters to transport your luggage to and from the rooms. It certainly wasn't worth R5400 per night. The food was often stale and same meals presented every alternate day. A Padel court is definitely a must addition. Furniture all around was old and some broken and sofas uncomfortable and decor dull and dated.
- The building is showing its age and had minor maintenance issues. The buffet was largely the same from day to day (but had enough selection that it was possible to still find plenty of variety.)

Hiking, massages, pools, food, friendly staff and services in general
A beautiful setting and amazing location! Clean, nice and relaxing. Overall the food was good.
The place is becoming a bit dated.
Check-in was fast and they accommodated us arriving a bit early, which is always appreciated! The staff truly are exceptional - very attentive and quick to cater for any enquiries. The spa staff and treatments were fantastic, we will most definitely return for that. The food quality and selection at every meal was great, the pizzas for lunch deserves a special mention, they were excellent.
The hotel is quite old and feels a bit run down, the tables were wobbly, the menus coming apart, some roof tiles had fallen off, the upstairs balcony could definitely do with a high-pressure clean. It's not the level of hotel one would expect from a giant like Southern Sun. But the rooms were exceptionally clean and the linen crisp. All in all, the actual hotel needs an update and refresher, but they more than made up for it where they could.
Lovely hotel, grounds and rooms very nice
NO LIFT BETWEEN FLOORS!! my wife has COPD and really struggled to get around. Grotto lounge closed. Pool bar closed. Spa closed. No USB outlets in rooms and no adaptors available. Really poor for a luxury hotel
We loved the location, the premises and our room was amazing
We didn’t really enjoy the food
The location is close to a number of amenities. The tranquility in the surroundings is just perfect. The lake provides relaxation with canoeing
It is unfortunate that for those with walking challenges, not necessarily those wheelchair bound, the many steps are not friendly at all
Excellent and your catering staff are on the ball Hospitality and food was superbEntertainment was tops
Dealing with the monkeys
Everything!
There's a gentleman who is at the dinning area entrance. White male middle age. He is a bit unpleasant and the only con
Great views, friendly helpful staff, cosy fires Food average
Dampness in the room.
Generally the food good, delicious more than enough but please reduce recycling food. We are aware as guests that we need to sat away from food like stwesbecause that's where you use left over veggies and meats to convert to something else. Even croissant, the following day will be Plat to show that they were the ones that were served the following. Last day, my daughter had diarrhea and that caused her migraine because of stomach bug due yo the good that she ate in the evening. My tummy was also upset when we left but that did not bother me because I normally do not select mixed up food in my serving. I am always at the hotel 2 to 3 times per months. I know and have experienced those things. But your food was nice and we enjoyed everything. Just reduce recycling of food.
We booked the executive and when we calculated , we paid R4900 per night per room. Those rooms are no longer worth executive rooms. Play get rid of those maths and replace eith flooring. That is the only thing that spoils the image of those " executive room". We even wanted to see your standard rooms because, to us ,our executive rooms looked no different to standard rooms and maths are no longer preferred for good health s sake. We were not able to walk barefoot on those maths. Maths are unhygienic, causes upper respiratory tract infections. My husband hates flies. We travel with fastkill wherever we go. One thing that he was happy and impressed about, was the fact that we arrived and left without seeing any fly. Your rooms do not have cockroaches and sugar insects. That is highly applauded. We even wondered what could you be using. The view is excellent. If everything goes in line with our prayer, We will definitely come back there again as a family. We really enjoyed but we will use standard rooms and not executive. We did not see value for money in those standard rooms. If you forget everything that I have written here, please remember to start planning to remove those maths. I thank you and be all ?
Gardens and resort facilities outside were excellent
No lift especially having an elderly person with usPrice of drinks
Your food and sweets quality is deteriorating. Your method of preparing curries is not up to standard. Your curries are sweet. Grilled chicken is tasteless and stringy. Your muffins are oily. The rolls aren't fresh and soft. It's hard and dry.
Sorry as above
I loved how clean and well maintained the property is
A few missing bathroom amenities, like sanitary packets, toilet brush, air freshnerFood was relatively good and catered for a wide range of cuisines, which we loved. However, the taste was not quite there, with there being less salt or too much of other components that rendered it bitter or inedible (like too much garlic in the soup)
Food , environment, games and activities .Plus the lovely staff from the Hotel
Beautiful location in the foothills of the Drakensberg mountains, set in lush gardens with amazing views of the Drakensberg. Very peaceful and relaxing with a choice of walks and hiking trails. Friendly staff. Large, comfortable bedroom en-suite. Very good buffet supper and buffet breakfast with fresh fruit, continental selection and hot prepared meal
Rooms and decor a little dated [shower over bath with plastic curtain]Monkeys a nuisance in the bedrooms
The service was very good; food was great, and the room was spacious and comfortable.
The problem with the monkies
Everything is close by. The staff is friendly and there are lots of things to do within the resort. There are hiking trails that are directly connected to the hotel.
