    Pros +

    • Quiet area, very peaceful, beautiful little village. Very friendly , helpful staff, very good food. Will be returning.
    • Great room really comfy bedNice food especially the breakfast
    • The Wheatsheaf had a good atmosphere with excellent attentive staff and both the two evening meals and breakfasts we had over the weekend were excellent. The room was clean and tidy with a good sized ensuite and large shower.

    Cons -

    • There is a church opposite the Wheatsheaf which rings the bells until quite late at night and starts early in the morning, so if you are a light sleeper the hotel provides ear plugs. This might not suit everyone. It didn't bother us though as our window had secondary glazing which helped to muffle the sound enough so as not to interrupt our sleep.
    • Pipes running through the room were noisy from about 5.30am
    • Rooms were a little small and it would habe been nice to have a lounge to sit and relax in and have a pre dinner drink.

Can't wait to return. Lovely charismatic room in an incredibly peaceful setting. Food and drink in the pub is excellent too. Highly recommended!

My wife and I had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at the Wheatsheaf. Lucy, Callum, and the team really looked after us and went over and beyond. The food was excellent, and the drinks reasonably priced with a varied selection. Our room was pristine with an amazing modern bathroom. Our dog was fussed over and given plenty of treats. The area is beautiful with amazing walks. I have no hesitation in recommending the Wheatsheaf to others. We will definitely return.

The location was perfect for visiting the local seaside towns of Sandside and Arnside. Dallam Park is also on the doorstep with its dear and plenty of walks. Beetham Garden Centre is just across the road and definately was worth a visit. It is ideally situated to drive into Kendal from which you can drive through to Windermere, Bowness, and further into the Lake District. The food was excellent and there was plenty of options to choose from. The Butternut Squash soup was particularly good. The breakfast both mornings was superb with a gamut of choices, the staff were very friendly and helpful nothing seemed to be to much trouble for them.

My room was at the top of the house and it seemed to take a long time for the water to heat up in the shower. The heating was also an issue as it did not seem to be on during the day or 8 am in the morning.
