    • The 3 floors villa was so comfortable and the views amazing. The kids loved the bunk beds. We had a great time in the indoor pool. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Can't really fault the place.
    • The setting is lovely. Very beautiful surroundings and relaxing vibes. The staff were welcoming and were at the end of the phone if we needed anything. For example we asked for baking trays the once and within 20 minutes they arrived with some. I also asked for a DVD player for my son to watch some films we had brought with us and they got us the next day. We loved the selection of board games and the pool table in the reception. We borrowed bats and rackets for table tennis and badminton and although everything is mega dated, we still had a lovely time and have great memories from that place. Raj and his family in the restaurant were LOVELY! The food was amazing, and quick and they made us and our kids feel so welcome. They couldn't do enough for us! Would definitely recommend booking a table to dine one night there.

    Cons -

    • The weather! It rained and we were only there for 2 nights but still had a great time.
    • The apartment needed some love. Walls and skirting boards for example have clearly taken a battering over the years and just need someone to go round and do a load of odd jobs. The apartment wasn't the cleanest, there was a fair bit of dust on the lamps for example in our bedroom. The swimming pool was freezing. We were advised there was a leak and they weren't able to get the pool any warmer. We went in twice during our stay and both times it was ice cold. 24 degrees. My son's teeth were chattering. The changing rooms are tiny and the showers were fine the first time I used them and then they had no water the next time. There was barely enough to swill soap off! The bar/restaurant doesn't open till 6pm which was a shame. Not sure if that is a seasonal thing (we went OCT half term) but it would have been nicer to be open sooner so to make more use of staying on site then going to the next town/village.And the reception area closed at 8pm so again. Its a shame we couldn't use that later too. A game of pool later on the evening would have been fun. Although it was £2 a game which is shocking! It is lacking a coffee shop on site too, that place has sooo much potential!
    • Need to complain about the cleanliness. Cobwebs everywhere, ceiling, light fittings/lamps had to even clear them from the sofa in order to sit. Bedding felt damp with bedrooms smelling musty and moldy. Plumbing needs attention as toilet takes forever to fill so that you can flush and the horrendous loud noise it makes whilst filling. Sinks & bath tub take forever to drain. Thick dust everywhere... dining chairs and dressing table mirror. Not up mention the massive clump of hair left behind mirror. Plus dented wall in living room.No fans or air conditioning in this heat. Also did not like a man using his key to let himself in. Did not ring bell or introduce himself or have any kind of ID to show he was staff. I thought he was lost...but said needs to take meter readings every Friday. If this is the case we should be told when we check in so we know what to expect. I was alone and just heard someone trying to get in knowing my sons were not back yet. Parting comment 'sorry to have startled you' ...REALLY!

The location and accommodation were very good and family friendly.

That the swimming pool and other facilities were one hour per day which is not good enough as the kids want to spend time in the swimming pool.

The location was exceptional. It was wonderful to wake each morning to that vista of mountains all around. The walks from the door of the resort were really good - through the woodland west with views as far as the sea, or down towards Pennal and the river itself.

The resort needs refurbishment. The lodges and the central areas (reception, pool, changing rooms, gym etc) are tired and need modernising. The sauna and jacuzzi were not working while we were there. It is a shame - if the resort has some money spent on it it has the potential to be truly exceptional.

    Location and ground are good

villa 42 was unacceptable. Dirty, grubby and a million miles away from being luxurious accommodation. Kitchen doors hanging off, locks on doors not functioning correctly so felt unsafe, dead insects on the floors, mold on the curtains and in picture frames, toilet not fixed to the floor or wall, no shower curtains, cracks in the windows, stains all over the carpets, bin had left over tenants dinner on it, food stains on the walls and even the ceiling, damp fusty smell throughout. I would never recommend anyone staying here. Reading other reviews everyone says the same, run down and needs massive investment. Goes to show greed has gone ahead of customer satisfaction. To keep good standards profits need reinvesting.Shame on you.

The games in the facility were amazing. Apart from the Tennis court, which needs to be maintained better, all the other games like table tennis, badminton, and swimming, were upto a satisfactory level. The spa was closed unfortunately but we enjoyed the resort thoroughly. If you want a quiet retreat from the city, this resort delivers just that. The views were an extra bonus.

The only massive let down was the Indian restaurant on site. The food is terrible and tastes stale. There is only 1 restaurant on the premises and another pub down the road outside the premises. Unfortunately the pub was fully booked so we couldn’t try it and were stuck to order from the Indian restaurant. The food is tastless and not authentic Indian at all. I hope they can change their vendor because everything else at the resort is upto a good standard. If you want to eat while staying there, I recommend going into Machenllyth and visiting “White Lion”. Avoid the restaurant in the resort.

The room was big and well equipped with everything you need to prepare a good breakfast/food. Surrounded with green and beautiful nature.

Extremely disappointed:1 - dirty: never see a hotel dirty like that. (As the picture can shows)2 - Check in at 5PM: we arrived 3PM, super tired after a long day driving. We have been told that the room wasn’t available yet. We decided to wait having a drink at the bar. Coincidentally it was right in front our room. During 2h NO ONE ENTRY or left THE BUILDING. My husband decided to check, NO ONE WAS PREPARING THE ROOM. The didn’t allow us to entry simply because they didn’t want to. After 2h waiting, we got the most dirty room we even had. For sure, that room hasn’t been used for a while. For us, this was the most ridiculous situation.3- we booked a place to have a rest. We carefully planned to stay in a “resort “ with pool, sauna, jacuzzi. When I saw the reviews about the facilities, I messaged the hotel asking if everything was working, and they said YES. Once we there, we have been told the sauna and jacuzzi WAS broken and to use the facilities we needed to book 1h slot. WHAT?? I booked a hotel with facilities that I can use for 1h with a previous reservation???? And when I questioned that, the lady said “but should be fine”. I said when I book a spa, I expect to spend my afternoon for example doing NOTHING and chilling in the pool. She simply asked me: “would you”? We booked 1h the first day. 1h full of teenagers jumping and screaming around. We stayed 30min and left. The changing rooms are super small, no shampoo, dry hair doesn’t work, another huge disappointment zDon’t book expecting a resort, because this is far from that.I felt like a stupid person. Outside everything is beautiful. The restaurant is a part of the hotel, Indian restaurant and they are independent. We didn’t try because the atmosphere was really bad. We didn’t want to risk pay for expensive food and get even more disappointed. The place itself is beautiful outside. But this is more a cottage area than a proper hotel.

The bungalow was excellent, amazing location overlooking the golf course and with amazing views. The 3 bedroom bungalow was spacious and well equipped, it also had good heating. The sofas and beds were really comfortable. The shower was also very good. The pool was excellent, plenty of room and warm, not overcrowded as they limit the amount of people as you have to book ahead, well organised. The pool was very close to our bungalow, there is also lounge seating area next to the pool where you can read, play games, children can do colouring in etc. They also sell a few snacks. The staff were extremely friendly & helpful. We will definitely be returning !

Very large house including sauna for a great price. Enjoyed swimming and the restaurant although the latter was fairly expensive.

    Not Happy

The pool was for limited time only. The steam was not working neither the saunan nor the jacuzzi. The changing room wear dirty and the toilets did not had hot water at times.very disappointing

    7BurtonPosted on: 4-13-2025

The location is fantastic, and the facilities are pretty good. I knew from reviews the sauna wasn’t working which was shame but no deal breaker. Pool was clean and we were able to access when we wanted. Little gym, laundry. Shame bar isn’t open after 9 but local but is great and 5mins walk. Accom needs a refurb. Bed was comfy and clean. We had to clean out the cupboards and give everywhere a once over. If it had received a lick of paint recently we wouldn’t have noticed so much. The carpets need replacing too. We would come back, with our own bleach! It was an easy fix but one we didn’t really need. The ground are really lovely though and the views amazing. It was so peaceful we stayed an extra night.

Great location and viewsHotel has massive potential to be something special but unloved Bungalows are showing their age and rather tired but decent value for the money

Hotel needs a lot of renovating, as a minimum at least a deep clean of all areas and some money spending on fittings , rooms Rooms are musty with damp and mildew patches . Carpets/tiles clearly not properly cleaned in years Restaurant / bar very tired and unappealing. Bar entrance Windows were filthy ! Menu very limited and overpriced for what it wasSwimming pool was ok but both sauna and jacuzzi out of order

    Facilities, views

we have faced several issues for being issued a property(number9) that is undergoing renovation on the first night of our stay.Firstly, We are a family of 3 adults with 2 young kids and we came for our husbands birthday(check-in day) plus anniversary trip(today). So this is an important holiday for all of us & is the first after having a baby#2 , 3 months ago. We frequently travel n do staycations but honestly never felt this experience before. We were in contact with Katie(the receptionist) on the check in day and mentiined we were going to be late after 8pm & she mentioned we can collect keys in an envelope from the arrival board . There was a key and property number was mentioned with a resort map as 'number 9' ,Issue 1- As soon as we checkedin & opened the door , there was hoover kept in the hallway & my husband tripped on the hose & hurt his knee as soon as he opened the door, we had to run to pharmacy the next morning to get some painkillers! Issue-2 , like mentioned we are 3 adults 1 child and It was a lot discomfort to use one bathroom as the other was being renovated/ repaired with several tools loaded in it .I also need to mention that the other bathroom we used was not in a great condition and looked used?!There was no reception available 24/7 so we couldn't reach out but to wait till morning and talk to reception face to face.Caroline was nice & kindly offered us an extension to another night .We moved all our stuff from number 9-10 last night but this flat is so squeaky all and not satisfactory for the price we payed at all. Now we don't feel like staying here any more after all these events last 2 nights. We travelled all the way from st helens(liverpool side) to wales only to enjoy the resort due to the branding 'Mac Donald' & we love the chesire one.

The apartment was spacious and great for a group. We really really enjoyed having the swimming pool. Countryside and walking was great.

Jacuzzi and sauna was broken, but at least the steam room was working.
