About

Nestled in the heart of the Shropshire countryside, Hawkstone Park is surrounded by 400 acres of beautiful scenery, including the unique 18th-century Follies. It is set 20 miles from historic Shrewsbury, just off the A49. Free WiFi is available throughout the hotel. Free on-site public parking is available and the property offers electric vehicle charging stations. Within the quiet grounds, Hawkstone Park has 2 golf courses and a croquet lawn. Open seasonally, the Grade I listed Follies are scattered throughout the scenic woods and parkland. The traditionally styled bedrooms are well-equipped, each featuring a flat-screen satellite TV, free tea and coffee and a private bathroom with a hairdryer. Guests have a choice of 2 restaurants, both serving a menu sourcing local produce wherever possible. Cozy bars stock a range of fine wines and beer. The impressive Shrewsbury Castle and Shrewsbury Abbey are a 25-minute drive away, while Quarry Park is 14 miles from the property. Manchester and Birmingham International Airports are 1 hour away by car. Guests can also explore caves and tunnels on nearby Grotto Hill.

    Pros +

    • The rooms were nice and modern. The bar staff were very friendly and helpful unlike the other staff.
    • Dinner was available when there appeared to be no other guests
    • Very dissatisfied with not actually staying in the hotel...paid for hotel and stay was up a steep set of metal outdoor stairs in a small block of rooms.Defo would not of paid to stay there if I had of known.

    Cons -

    • The staff working the check in were not very friendly at all. Acted like we were more of a bother to them. One of our rooms had such a foul smell from window glue that we had to be moved. The food was horrible, everyone was sick that evening.
    • The premises are very big but it appeared we we were one of two or three guests in the whole facility. It is surprising the venue was even open. For intended guests it would have been preferable for the hotel to cancel the booking in advance when the occupancy rate was known to be so small. The staff were very average and consistently very average throughout the facility. The standout exception was George who was barman, waiter and bright light of the establishment.
    • The clubhouse food menu.

Nice staff, manager extremely accommodating and provided some essentials I had forgotten to bring. Location good for wedding at Hawkstone Hall. Nice breakfast

Location a bit variable for availability for taxis - book in advance

Room was clean & very spacious. Staff were friendly

Asked for an early check in, received confirmation email with agreed early check in time. When we arrived we were informed our room wasn’t ready, others who hadn’t requested early check in could in fact check in early…Having to finish off getting ready in a car for a wedding is far from ideal. Must improve on this front given the amount of business they must receive for weddings. Also no Prosecco glasses!

Hotel & room were great - breakfast not so good!

The breakfast wasn’t great - we were down fairly early (8.30) and it had clearly all been sat there a while

    Nothing except the location

Awful experience we stayed here a few years ago lovey stay very well looked after excellent restaurant and bar.Arranged bed this time first to have business meetings with colleagues who had travelling far. Impossible to get coffee or drinks was told we had to walk outside into the cold and walk to the golf bar. I am disabled so that was not a opinion. Luckily a serving member of staff said she would finish what she was doing and then would bring us coffee and open the bar. Some young manageress told me I had to walk to the golf. I told her I was disabled but she did not care and walked off. We had to order some bar snack meal as the restaurant was not working. So that was very disappointing. The next day for breakfast we were served by a guy who was dressed that he could be a Gardner or handy man. The coffee machines were not working so we were given 2?mugs of hot water and Nescafé saches. Absolutely horrible. The bacon and eggs were ok but the tomatoes was warmed but cooked. I complained nef and was told he would advise the cook. The next day Friday was valentines and we booked a table for 2. I am afraid to say it was horrible food no imagination. I had a terrine which was awful and did not taste like a terrine. My wife wanted scallops for a main meal instead of a starter. The waiter said he would ask the chef but apparently he was too busy. So I said I would have scallops and to give my wife both portions which she got on two plates instead of one. There was nothing I wanted as a main meal so had a very boring plate of cheese. Breakfast the Saturday the had got the coffee machines working but you had to walk to another room to get your breakfast. I am disabled so my wife had to make several trips to get her and my breakfast, no offer of help was made by the staff. I had booed two more rooms for friends from south wales and 2 local friends to dinner.

Warm comfy and plenty of parking

Shortage of staff in golf club, trying to get food. To play golf was more expensive than staying for one night, you should have a stay and play rate. As we would have taken that deal. As it was the golf courses were deserted, both on the Friday and Saturday.

Parking was good. Staff were nice.Location was good.

The evening meal was over priced and the food was under cooked. The shower did not work properly in the room. There was dead bugs and flys over the bed on arrival.

    8ZoePosted on: 11-6-2024

The bed was comfy, staff were Lovley. The beef was nice but not worth £20

Tv was Tiny, bed was a small double not a double we stated, there’s nothing nearby as in no where to get food if you don’t like what they offer. It’s just in the middle of no where.

Stunning property in a beautiful location. The staff were fantastic. A special thanks to the lady at the bar & Cheryl the reception manager who went above & beyond in delivering exceptional service.

Well appointed good size comfortable room, with good food in the evening. Good location for our visit.

Not necessarily a did not like, but this hotel predominantly caters for golfing parties due to its location, so not a destination for quiet couple weekend away not golfing, but did not detract from a pleasant one night stay.

    9KatharinePosted on: 10-4-2024

Great location , comfy room with balcony. Coffee machine , biscuits and tea. View across golf course

Unfortunately due to rain course water logged . . Not their fault. Champion course closed. Limited choice at breakfast . OK if you like a fry up . 3 cereals toast and croissants. Not much choice if you have dietary issues

Beautiful Large Modern Bedroom, Fabulous Shower. Friendly Staff

No actual bar just a large chilly function room that served drink

Great location for me at a wedding near by

I really wanted to do early check in as the wedding started at 1pm unfortunately that was not available for me yet the hotel was not fully booked

    9ChrisPosted on: 8-11-2024

    Lovely breakfast

Elderly person in the party and no lift

    7KarenPosted on: 8-11-2024

    The grounds were amazing

We stayed one night before a family wedding. The steps were a big problem I had my elderly parents with us and they were on the 3rd floor with no lift, we had to swap them with another guest on the ground floor even tho my parents had paid for a suite!
