    • Friendly and helpful host.Size of room was excellent.Superb tea tray.Phenomenal continental breakfast - choice and quantity. On site parking.Beer garden/terrace catches the sun.Although directly on the roadside it was very quiet in the village.
    • Loved this roadside inn in this very quaint village! The attached bar was so fun and Dane, the owner, was just great! He is working hard to make this property unique and inviting and we look forward to returning some day!The outside deck, hillside trail, and plantings were wonderful!
    • Nice quiet location for a getaway. Room was spacious and had kettle, teas plus free water and items were available on the landing which was a nice addition. Very friendly host helped us pick some food whiskeys to try. They had a good list of nearby restaurants but you may want to book ahead in your getting in late. A continental breakfast is available though they were short on plates and butter by the time we got there otherwise there was plenty of food. Over all great location, friendly staff and locals. Would stay here again if I was in the area.

    Cons -

    • Restaurant and bar were shut on our visit.Ensuite needs some maintenance attention, but it didn't affect us directly.
    • Didn't see staff at breakfast to get clean plates.
    • Bed was a bit uncomfortable and there was only instant coffee at breakfast - neither are show stoppers and I'd stop there anytime to break my journey north.

The person who was playing the roles of a bartender, waiter, cleaner etc. was a winner. Absolutely amazing guy. Loved playing darts near the bar.

Really friendly staff and locals , great food with out any frills.Breakfast was good and well cooked. The couple running it were very welcoming and evening meal with a few drinks really good value. It's under new management which I guessed , the room was a bit "tired" but spotless. Apparantly they're going to refurb the rooms anyway.

Bed was a bit uncomfortable and there was only instant coffee at breakfast - neither are show stoppers and I'd stop there anytime to break my journey north.

the large room was a surprise and very nicely presented. Staff were warm and welcoming. Ellie's crumble for dessert was excellent!

the large bed was two put together -- but we still slept for 11 hours! the hallway was a little dark and we couldn't turn the heater on, so we were a bit cold when we went to bed.

Friendly local hotel with great hosts. Food was good

The noise, but it's a hotel. Went quiet when we went to bed

Friendly couple running it, found a space to keep my bike overnight. Good food and drink in the bar

Very warm welcome from the couple who run the hotel, got dog in bar area, had a lovely open fire, good food and drink, fantastic location for walking dog

Would stay again, just needs a bit spruced up in the rooms

The new owners have just taken over and they were brilliant. Friendly and helpful and accommodating with food intolerances. The bar is a real old fashioned local pub with a lovely log fire. Our room was warm, clean and spacious and the bar food was fantastic!

We feel they are going to continue to make great progress in the improvements for the hotel and we look forward to coming back to see the progress.

    The location

The rooms were full of mould/damp and the windows sills are rotting. There’s mould in the bathroom and the hotel has a musty smell. The room had many unsafe features, one of which was a kettle plugged into an extension dangling from the unit. We had booked for 4 nights and cousins even stay the first night due to how inhospitable the room was. When we spoke to the member of staff we were told that we would get a refund. 3 more phone calls were made and they then refused to give any refund. Terrible service and disgusting hotel. Do not book.

The worst stay in a hotel we have ever had! Avoid like the plague!

Check in was 2pm. The hotel was empty until 6pm. We had to wait for 4 hours to gain entrance. There was NO heating in any part of the hotel. The entrance was dirty. There was the last guests rubbish in the bins in the room. The ceilings were stained badly. There was mould around the bath. There was no toilet roll at all. We were unable to wash or shower as the water was icy cold. And worst of all we were responsible for locking up the hotel at night as we were left alone in the building all night. This is surely illegal, especially if there was a fire! We paid £93 for this room and it was less luxurious than a hostel. An utter disgrace. We will be expecting our money refunded.

The location was spectacular and had a lot of good walks for the dog. The staff were friendly and welcoming especially to the dog.

The hotel was a bit outdated and needs work, however the owners have not long taken over.

Breakfast was poor. It was included in the price , looked forward to the Breakfast. Informed by staff in the morning that she only did fried, boiled or scrambled eggs. Can't do poached. I asked for cooked breakfastwith fried eggs, told no cooked breakfast . Continental only. Which consisted of cereal , fruit juice , jam or marmalade. No mention of this when booking.

As above. If known no cooked breakfast, wouldn't have booked.
